How do I use the KING P-44 coffee maker for the first time?

Before first use, wash the carafe and filter basket in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Plug in the machine, fill the water tank with fresh cold water to the max line, and run a brew cycle without coffee grounds. Discard the water. Your coffee maker is now ready.

What type of coffee filter should I use?

You can use either the included permanent mesh filter or a standard #4 cone paper filter. If using paper filters, rinse them before use to remove any paper taste.

How much water can the tank hold?

The water tank holds up to 1.5 liters, which brews about 12 cups of coffee. Do not fill beyond the max line.

Why does my coffee maker stop brewing before the carafe is full?

This is normal. The machine pauses briefly to allow the coffee to drip through. If it stops completely, check the water level in the tank – you may not have added enough. Also ensure the carafe is properly placed on the warming plate.

How do I clean the coffee maker?

After each use, discard the grounds and rinse the filter basket and carafe. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. For deep cleaning, descale the machine every 1-2 months using a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Run a full brew cycle, then two cycles with clean water.

Can I use the coffee maker to brew tea?

Yes, you can use the coffee maker to brew hot water for tea. Simply fill the tank, place a paper filter in the basket (or use the mesh filter for loose leaf), add tea, and brew as usual. Be aware that flavours may linger.

What does the auto shut-off feature do?

The auto shut-off automatically turns off the heating element after the brew cycle is complete, usually within 2 hours. This saves energy and prevents accidents. The warming plate will also turn off.

How do I replace the carafe if it breaks?

Replacement carafes for the KING P-44 are available online. Order a generic 12-cup glass carafe or a specific KING replacement part. Ensure the lid fits securely.

Why is my coffee weak or watery?

Weak coffee may result from using too few coffee grounds or too coarse a grind. Try increasing the amount of coffee. Also ensure the permanent filter is clean – clogged filters can reduce extraction.

Is the coffee maker BPA-free?

Yes, all plastic parts that come into contact with water or coffee are BPA-free. The carafe is made of glass and is also BPA-free.

When using your coffee maker, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. Read all instructions carefully, even if you are familiar with the appliance.
2. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

■ staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

■ by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;

5. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or a counter. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces.

6. Avoid touching hot coffee maker surfaces – use the body handle only.

7. Extreme caution must be used when moving the coffee maker containing hot water. Always use the body handle.

8. To protect from electrical hazard, do not immerse this coffee maker, power base or cord set in any liquid.

9. Use the coffee maker only with the supplied base unit. Do not use the base unit for other purposes.

10. To protect against fire, do not operate in the presence of explosive and / or flammable fumes.

11. Do not use the coffee maker for any purpose other than heating water.

12. This product has not been designed for any other uses other than those specified in this booklet.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. After taking the coffee maker out of the pack, insert the handle into the handle connector.

1. By using your coffee maker, you can prepare coffee.
2. Before first use, fill the coffee maker with clean water to maximum capacity and boil. Discard the water and repeat the process.
3. The coffee maker should always be unplugged when filling or adding water.
4. Fill the coffee maker with water to the desired level. Do not overfill or there will be a risk of spillage or spitting. The water level indicator will assist you to measure the correct amount.
5. Put sufficient quantity of cold water into your coffee maker according Max.300ML
6. Place the appliance onto the power base unit, and switch on the coffee maker by simply pressing on/off switch
7. At this time mix your coffee for one or two times using stainless steel measuring and mixing spoon
8. When the coffee starts bloating out, turn off the appliance and pour a little coffee into the cups (for foam)
9. Replace your appliance onto the power base unit and restart the coffee maker, then pour the coffee to the cup when the prepared coffee bloats out again.
10. You can prepare coffee in different measures according to your personal taste.
11. An automatic safety cut-out has been fitted for protection against running dry. If you do not put in enough water, or switch on when it is empty, the safety cut-out will switch off the power automatically. If this happens, wait a few minutes for the element to cool, then refill and use as normal.
12. Place the power base on a dry, flat surface. Place the coffee maker on the power base. The electrical connection will be made automatically as the coffee maker slides onto the power base.
13. Plug the cord set into an earthed power socket and switch on by depressing the switch of the coffee maker to the "ON" position.
14. After allowing the coffee maker to cool down for 15 – 20 seconds, the water can be brought back to the boil by pushing the switch back to the "ON" position. During the cooling down time do not force the on/off switch into the "ON" position as this can damage the operating mechanism.
15. Do not remove the coffee maker from the power base without switching off first.
16. Remember, if you do not wish to re-boil the coffee, switch it off.
17. The coffee maker may be switched off manually at any time by setting the on/off switch into the "OFF" position.
18. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powers. Never immerse the coffee maker in water or other liquids.

From time to time, dependent on the nature of your water supply, a lime scale deposit is naturally formed and can be found mostly adhered to the heating element, thus reducing the heating capacity. The amount of lime scale deposited (subsequently the need to clean or rescale) largely depends on the water hardness in your area the frequency with which the coffee maker is used.

Lime scale is not harmful to your health. But if poured into your beverage, it can give a powdery taste to your drink. Therefore, the coffee maker should be descaled periodically as indicated below:

DESCALING

Descale coffee maker regularly. With normal use: at least twice a year.

1. Fill the coffee maker up to "MAX" with a mixture of one part ordinary vinegar and two parts water. Switch on and wait for the appliance to switch off automatically.
2. Let the mixture remain inside the coffee maker overnight.
3. Discard the mixture the next morning.
4. Fill the coffee maker with clean water up to "MAX" mark and boil again.
5. Discard the boiled water to remove any remaining scale and vinegar.
6. Rinse the inside of the coffee maker with clean water.
