How do I connect the TA4201 to my network?

Connect the device to your network switch via the RJ-45 Ethernet port using a standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The device supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for both data and power, so no separate power supply is needed if your switch is PoE-enabled.

What is the default IP address of the TA4201?

The device uses DHCP by default. If no DHCP server is available, it will fall back to a link-local address (169.254.x.x). Use Axis Device Manager or the on‑device discovery tool to find the IP address on your network.

How do I reset the TA4201 to factory defaults?

Press and hold the Reset button on the device for 10 seconds using a paperclip. The LED will flash to confirm the reset. All settings, including IP configuration and passwords, will be restored to factory defaults.

Can the TA4201 control door locks?

Yes, the TA4201 features one relay output that can be used to control a door lock or other electrical device. The relay contacts are rated for 30 V DC / 1 A. Ensure the lock power supply is compatible and observe polarity.

What is the maximum cable length for the I/O and serial connections?

For the configurable I/O ports, use cable lengths up to 30 meters. For RS-485 serial connections, the maximum cable length is 1200 meters at 9600 baud. Use twisted-pair shielded cable for best performance.

How do I update the firmware on the TA4201?

Access the device web interface, navigate to System > Maintenance, and upload the latest firmware file from the Axis support website. Do not power off the device during the update. The device will reboot automatically.

Is the TA4201 compatible with third-party access control software?
