Frequently Asked Questions - IST-2000 Imarflex

How do I clean the steamer?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Descale the interior by filling the water tank with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:3), steam for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Can I steam frozen vegetables directly?
Yes, you can place frozen vegetables in the steaming basket. The cooking time may be slightly longer. Ensure they are evenly spread for thorough cooking.
Why does the steamer shut off before food is done?
The steamer has a boil-dry protection. If the water level drops below minimum, it will shut off automatically. Refill the tank and restart. Also check that the lid is properly closed.
What is the maximum water level?
Do not fill beyond the MAX mark indicated on the transparent water level window. Overfilling may cause water to sputter from the steam vents.
Can I use the steamer without the lid?
No, the lid is essential to trap steam and cook the food. Operating without the lid will cause rapid water evaporation and may trigger the safety shut-off.
How long does it take to steam rice?
Approximately 25-30 minutes for 1 cup of white rice. Use the provided rice bowl and ensure water level is adequate. Brown rice may take 35-40 minutes.
Is the steamer dishwasher safe?
Only the steaming basket and rice bowl are top-rack dishwasher safe. The base unit (with heating element) must be wiped clean and never immersed in water.
What type of water should I use?
Use tap water is acceptable. In areas with hard water, using distilled or filtered water reduces mineral buildup. Avoid using softened water as it may affect the taste of food.
Can I leave the steamer unattended while operating?
It is not recommended. Although the steamer has auto shut-off, leaving it unattended may cause overcooking or fire if malfunction occurs. Stay nearby and check water level periodically.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact Imarflex customer service or authorized service centers. Common parts like steaming baskets, rice bowls, and lids can be ordered online or through local retailers.
