GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug.
(2 blades and 1 pin) If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Remove all packaging.
- Water boiled for the first time should be discarded.
HOW TO USE
- Install the Filter, if not already in place. Do not attempt to install or remove the filter if the kettle is hot.
- Open the Lid and fill the Kettle with a minimum of .5 litres of water.
NOTE: The Kettle cannot be filled to the maximum level unless the Filter is in place.
DO NOT attempt to fill the Kettle while it is on the Power Base.
DO NOT use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior of the Kettle.
DO NOT fill past the MAX level indicated inside of the Kettle. Overfilling may cause water to spill out when boiling. - Close the Lid.
- Place the Kettle on the Base making sure it is correctly engaged on its base.
- Plug Power Base cord into a 120V AC wall outlet. Note: Never plug power base with empty Kettle into the electrical outlet.
-
Lift the On/Off switch to the 'On' position, denoted by '1' and it will light up to indicate that the Kettle is in the boil cycle. Once the water has boiled, the On/Off Switch will switch to the 'Off' position, denoted by '0' and the light will go out.
-
If you want to use the Kettle again, allow the thermal safety switch to cool down for 15 to 20 seconds then lift the On/Off Switch to the On position. If the On/Off Switch does not remain in the On position, the water is hot enough to use without reheating.
- Unplug cord from wall outlet before lifting Kettle from Power Base. Only grip the Kettle by the handle as all other surfaces and the Lid will be hot.
- Return the Kettle to the Power Base or place on a heat resistant surface after use.
- If the Kettle is accidentally switched on when empty, the thermostat will automatically shut it off to prevent the Kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, unplug the Power Base and let the Kettle cool before refilling.
- It is recommended that the Power Cord be disconnected from the wall outlet when not in use. DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base or tamper with the connector in any way.
CARE AND CLEANING
Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the kettle. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. Dry thoroughly before use.
DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO ENTER THE POWER BASE
DO NOT IMMERSE THE KETTLE OR POWER BASE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID.
Descaling
Under normal use, a deposit of scale may form on the inside of the Kettle. This build-up can be delayed by pouring out old water and refilling before each use.
- Unplug power cord from wall outlet and allow Kettle to cool before cleaning.
- Remove Filter and wash under running water.
- Scale which has accumulated inside the Kettle can be removed by boiling equal parts of white vinegar and water (2 cups of each is recommended). Once the water has boiled, allow mixture to stand overnight. Empty out mixture and fill Kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a boil and discard. For heavy scale build-up, repeat this process.
A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be of the grounding-type 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
