Frequently Asked Questions - Profile KSK220 Kambrook

How do I descale my Kambrook Profile KSK220 kettle?
Use a proprietary kettle descaler or a mixture of 1 part vinegar (or a few lemon slices) with 2 parts water. Fill the kettle to 2/3, boil, let stand overnight, then empty. Rinse with fresh boiling water twice.
What does the boil dry protection do?
It automatically switches off the kettle if there is insufficient water to prevent damage. After the safety device activates, unplug and let the kettle cool, then reset by removing and replacing it on the base.
How do I clean the kettle exterior?
Wipe with a damp cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth. Do not use chemical, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners. Never immerse the kettle base, power base, or power cord in water.
What should I do before first use?
Remove all packaging and promotional labels. Fill to maximum with cold tap water, boil, then discard the water. This cleans the interior.
Can I boil anything other than water?
No, this kettle is designed for boiling drinking quality water only. Do not heat or boil other liquids or foodstuffs.
What is the capacity of the kettle?
1.7 liters. The water window shows minimum and maximum marks; do not fill above the maximum to avoid splashing.
Why does the kettle switch off before boiling?
This may occur if there is too little water (below the minimum mark) or if the boil dry protection has activated. Ensure water level is between min and max and check that the lid is closed properly.
Is the kettle cordfree?
Yes, the kettle detaches from the power base for easy filling, pouring, and cleaning. It must be used only with the supplied power base.
How do I store the kettle?
Switch off, unplug, clean, and dry. Lock the lid closed, wrap the cord around the storage under the base, and store upright on the power base. Do not store anything on top.
What voltage does the kettle require?
230–240 V. Fully unwind the cord before use and plug into a suitable outlet. Do not use with an external timer or remote control.

KAMBROOK PROFILE

Using Your Kambrook Profile 1.7L Kettle

Before First Use

Remove any packaging material and promotional labels before using your kettle for the first time.

It is recommended before the first use to fill the kettle to the maximum level with cold tap water, bring to the boil and then discard the water. Your kettle will only operate when positioned on the power base with the ON/OFF switch in the 'ON' position. The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has boiled.

Operation Of Your Kettle

  1. To fill the kettle with water, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing the button on the handle of the kettle and the lid will lift upwards. Fill with the desired amount of water. Do not operate the kettle without water. Always fill the kettle between the minimum and the maximum marks on the water window. Too little water will result in the kettle switching off.
  2. Ensure that the lid is closed before placing the kettle on the power base.
  3. Place the kettle firmly onto the power base and plug the power cord into a 230V or 240V power outlet and switch on.
  4. Press the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position. The power 'ON' light will illuminate.

NOTE: Never operate the kettle dry - too little water will result in the kettle switching 'OFF'.

Do not overfill the kettle - filling above the maximum mark on the water window may result in boiling water splashing from the kettle.

NOTE: This kettle must only be used with the power base supplied. Use caution when pouring water from your kettle, as boiling water will scald. Do not pour the water too quickly.

NOTE: Do not remove the kettle from the power base during operation. Ensure the kettle has switched to the 'OFF' position after the water has boiled before removing the kettle from the power base.

  1. The kettle will automatically switch 'OFF' once the water has boiled. Lift the kettle from the power base and pour the water. Take care to hold the kettle level, especially when filled to the maximum level. To re-boil it may be necessary to wait for a few seconds to allow the control to reset.
  2. The kettle should be stored on its power base when not in use. The power outlet should be switched off and the power cord unplugged from the power outlet when not in use.

WARNING: Never immerse the kettle base, switch area, power base or power supply cord in water or allow moisture to come in contact with these parts.

Mineral Deposits and Discolouration

Due to the large surface area of the immersed element (interior base), discolouration due to mineral deposits from tap water may appear more obvious by leaving a brown stain on the base. THIS IS NOT RUST.

To remove the discolouration, follow the instructions "Removing Mineral Deposits".

Removing Mineral Deposits

Mineral deposits in tap water may cause the kettle interior and water window to discolour over time. This may be removed by using a proprietary kettle descaler which is available from most leading supermarkets, department stores and hardware stores.

Alternatively:

  1. Fill the kettle until 2/3 full with 1 part vinegar (or a few slices of lemon) and 2 parts water, bring to the boil and allow to stand overnight.
  2. Empty the solution from the kettle. Fill the kettle with clean water, bring to boil and discard the water. Repeat and the kettle will be ready for use.

Storage

Ensure the kettle is switched off, cleaned and dried before storing. Ensure that the lid is closed and locked firmly into place. Wrap the power cord around the cord storage under the power base. Stand the kettle upright on the power base. Do not store anything on top.
