Frequently Asked Questions - HYB-1000 Sloan

How do I adjust the sensor detection range on the HYB-1000?
To adjust the sensor range, use the dip switches located inside the battery compartment. Refer to the manual for specific settings. The range can be set between 20 and 30 inches for optimal detection.
What type of batteries does the HYB-1000 use and how long do they last?
The HYB-1000 uses four AA alkaline batteries. Under normal usage, the battery life can last up to 300,000 flushes, which is typically several years.
Can the water consumption be changed from 1.0 to 1.6 GPF?
Yes, the HYB-1000 is field-adjustable for water consumption. There is a selector switch on the flush valve that allows you to choose between 1.0 and 1.6 gallons per flush (GPF).
The toilet is not flushing when I approach. What should I check?
First, check if the batteries are installed correctly and have power. Then, ensure the sensor lens is clean. Also, verify that the dip switches are set correctly, and the water supply is on.
What is the recommended cleaning method for the HYB-1000?
Use a soft cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach, or acidic chemicals as they may damage the sensor lens and finish. For the sensor, gently wipe with a damp cloth.
How do I replace the batteries in the HYB-1000?
Remove the battery cover on the top of the flushometer. Remove old batteries and install four new AA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity. Replace the cover and test operation.
What spare parts are available for the HYB-1000?
Common spare parts include the piston kit, sensor lens assembly, battery pack, and gasket kits. These can be ordered from Sloan authorized dealers.
The flush seems weak. How can I fix it?
A weak flush may be due to low battery power, incorrect water supply pressure (minimum 25 PSI required), or a clogged piston. Check the batteries and supply pressure; if still weak, replace the piston kit.
Is the HYB-1000 ADA compliant?
Yes, the HYB-1000 toilet meets ADA accessibility requirements with a 17-inch seat height and automatic flush sensor that is easy to use for individuals with disabilities.
How do I set the dual-flush feature for liquid vs. solid waste?
The HYB-1000 uses an infrared sensor to detect user presence: a brief presence triggers a 1.0 GPF flush (liquid), while a longer presence triggers a 1.6 GPF flush (solid). No manual setting required.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION:

IMPORTANT Do not install on copper DWV due to copper's susceptibility to corrosion.

  • ADA requires a lip height of 17" or lower. To allow for variances and assure compliance Sloan recommends roughing the drain line to achieve a 16- 12 " lip height
  • Check slope. Downhill slope, per code, is essential because waterfree urinals depend on gravity flow.
  • Check DWV material. Suitable materials include cast iron, PVC, ABS and galvanized steel.

CAUTION After removing any urine from the drum line. It's normal for certain naturally occurring but potentially hazardous sewer gases to escape through the opening until the wireless cartridge is installed properly into the waterless urine. If you should have a clean, so much as

need to leave an open drain line unbroken error removing the urnel from the well-tempered wedge vapor lowers or a reg into the drain hole to reduce any out-of-sweer gases, and remove the paper to wear or drag prior to completing the urne or cartridge installation. Never smoke, have an open flame, or place your nose or mouth near open drain lines or waterless urnal housings into which a cartridge is not yet properly installed. You also can wear a breathing mask when removing or installing any waterless urnal or cartridge to reduce patential exposure to any such gases.
