Frequently Asked Questions - T-Sub-AX15B Wharfedale

How do I connect the Wharfedale T-Sub-AX15B to my audio system?
Use a balanced XLR cable from your mixer's subwoofer output to the sub's input. Alternatively, use RCA cables if your source has an RCA output. Ensure the subwoofer's volume is turned down before powering on.
What is the optimal placement for the subwoofer?
Place the subwoofer on the floor, preferably in a corner or against a wall to enhance low-frequency response. Avoid placing it in the middle of the room. Keep it at least 6 inches away from walls for proper port ventilation.
How do I set the crossover frequency?
Adjust the crossover knob to match your main speakers' low-frequency limit. A typical setting is around 80 Hz. The crossover is a low-pass filter, so frequencies above the set point are sent to the main speakers.
Why is the subwoofer not producing sound?
Check that the power cord is plugged in and the power switch is on. Verify the input cable is connected properly. Ensure the subwoofer's volume is turned up. Also, check that the signal source is sending a low-frequency signal.
Can I use the subwoofer in a portable PA system?
Yes, the T-Sub-AX15B is designed for both installed and portable applications. It has a robust build and handles high SPL. Ensure adequate ventilation and do not exceed the rated power.
What is the phase switch for?
The phase switch (0° or 180°) corrects phase alignment between the subwoofer and main speakers. Experiment with both positions to hear which gives a fuller, more coherent bass response at your listening position.
How do I clean the subwoofer?
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the cabinet. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use any chemical cleaners, alcohol, or abrasive materials as they may damage the finish.
What type of fuse does the subwoofer use?
The subwoofer uses a standard 5x20 mm glass fuse. The rating is indicated on the fuse holder. Replace only with the same amperage and voltage rating (e.g., T3.15A L250V). If the fuse blows repeatedly, consult a qualified technician.
Is the subwoofer compatible with 100V line systems?
No, the T-Sub-AX15B is designed for standard low-impedance audio systems (4 or 8 ohms). It is not a 100V line speaker. Use with a suitable amplifier only.
What is the warranty period?
Wharfedale typically offers a 2-year warranty for passive speakers and 1-year for active electronics. Confirm with your dealer. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but not damage from misuse or unauthorized repairs.
