Frequently Asked Questions - EXT-HD50C KanexPro

What is the maximum transmission distance of the KanexPro EXT-HD50C?
The maximum distance depends on cable type and resolution. For 1080p, up to 230 ft (70 m) over CAT6 or 197 ft (60 m) over CAT5E. For 4K30, up to 131 ft (40 m) over CAT6 or 115 ft (35 m) over CAT5E.
Does the EXT-HD50C support 4K resolution?
Yes, it supports video resolutions up to 4K@30Hz (3840x2160).
How do I connect IR control with this extender?
Connect the IR blaster cable to the IR OUT port on the transmitter and the IR receiver cable to the IR IN port on the receiver. The IR signal from the remote control at the receiver side will be transmitted to the source device via the IR blaster.
What is the EDID copy function?
The EDID copy function allows the extender to copy the EDID from either the connected display on the loop out port (local) or from the display connected to the receiver (remote). This ensures proper handshake between source and display. The selection is made via the DIP switch on the transmitter.
Can I cascade multiple EXT-HD50C units?
Yes, the transmitter has an HDMI loop out port that can be connected to another extender pair for cascading, allowing extension to multiple displays.
What type of cable do I need to connect the transmitter and receiver?
A single CAT5E or CAT6 Ethernet cable (straight-through) is required. For longer distances and higher resolutions, CAT6 is recommended.
Does the extender require power for both transmitter and receiver?
Yes, both units come with 5V/1A DC power adapters. However, the transmitter can power the receiver via the CAT cable (PoC).
What audio formats are supported?
The EXT-HD50C supports up to 7.1 channel HD audio, including PCM, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio.
How do I troubleshoot if there is no video signal?
Ensure all HDMI and CAT cable connections are secure. Power cycle both units. Check the EDID DIP switch setting. Verify that the source device output resolution is compatible with the display and extender (max 4K30). Also confirm the CAT cable is not damaged and meets the required length.
What is the warranty period for this product?
KanexPro provides a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
