Frequently Asked Questions - 513-1429THV2 LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY

How do I set up my La Crosse Technology 513-1429THV2 clock?
Insert 2 AA batteries into the clock and 2 AA batteries into the outdoor sensor. Place the sensor outdoors within 300 feet. The clock will search for the atomic time signal within 24 hours. Alternatively, you can manually set the time using the buttons.
Why is the outdoor temperature not showing on my clock?
Check that the sensor is powered with fresh batteries and is within range (300 feet open air). Ensure there are no obstructions or interference. Perform a sensor re-sync by pressing the 'SEARCH' button on the clock.
How does the atomic time sync work?
The clock receives the WWVB time signal broadcast from Fort Collins, Colorado. It automatically synchronizes nightly for accurate time. You can also force a sync by pressing the 'SET/REC' button for 3 seconds.
What batteries does the La Crosse 513-1429THV2 use?
The clock and sensor each require 2 AA alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries as they may affect performance. Replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator appears.
How do I reset the clock to factory settings?
Press and hold the 'RESET' button on the back of the clock for 3 seconds. This clears all data and requires you to set up again. Also remove and reinsert batteries to fully reset.
Can I mount the 513-1429THV2 on the wall?
Yes, the clock has a keyhole slot on the back for wall mounting. Use a screw to hang it. Ensure the wall surface is solid and the clock is level.
What is the maximum range for the outdoor sensor?
The sensor transmits up to 300 feet in open air. Walls, metal, and large appliances can reduce the range. Place the sensor in a sheltered location away from direct sunlight and rain.
Why is my clock not syncing to atomic time?
Ensure you are in the central US time zone (WWVB signal reach). At night, place the clock near a window facing north or west. Avoid electronic interference. You can also disable auto-sync and set the time manually.
How do I adjust the backlight brightness?
Press the 'SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT' button to cycle through brightness levels: high, low, and off. The backlight stays on for 10 seconds then fades. There is no continuous backlight option.
What do the icons on the display mean?
The display shows time, date, indoor/outdoor temperature (degrees F or C), humidity percentage, atomic signal strength (tower icon), and barometric trend arrow. A low battery icon appears when batteries need replacement.
