Frequently Asked Questions - LR8 S1 F S INDESIT

What is the recommended temperature setting for the Indesit LR8 S1 F S freezer?
The recommended setting is -18°C for optimal food preservation. Use the dial inside to adjust; a higher number indicates colder temperature.
How often should I defrost the freezer?
Defrost when ice build-up reaches 5-10 mm thickness, typically every 6-12 months. Always remove food and unplug the appliance before defrosting.
What does the Fast Freeze function do?
Activate Fast Freeze 24 hours before adding large amounts of fresh food. It runs the compressor continuously to rapidly lower temperature, then automatically returns to normal.
Why is my freezer not cooling properly?
Check if the door is fully closed, the thermostat is set correctly, and the condenser coils (rear) are clean. Also ensure proper ventilation around the appliance.
Can I use the freezer in an unheated garage?
Yes, provided the ambient temperature stays within the climate class (N-T: 16°C to 38°C). In colder conditions, the freezer may stop working temporarily.
How do I change the door opening side?
The door hinge is reversible. Unscrew the hinge, swap the door, and reattach the hinge on the opposite side. A detailed guide is in the user manual.
What is the noise level, and is it normal to hear gurgling sounds?
Noise level is about 40 dB(A). Gurgling or hissing is normal due to refrigerant flow. Loud buzzing may indicate leveling issues.
How do I clean the freezer?
Unplug and remove all food and drawers. Wash interior with a mild detergent and warm water, then dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Clean rear condenser coils annually.
Where can I find spare parts like the door gasket or thermostat?
Spare parts are available through Indesit authorized service centers or online retailers. Use the model number LR8 S1 F S when ordering.
What should I do if the power goes out?
Keep the door closed. A full freezer can keep food frozen for about 48 hours if unopened. After power returns, check food quality and refreeze if still icy.

FRIDGE COMPARTMENT

Use recyclable plastic, metal, aluminum and glass containers and cling film to wrap foods.

Always use closed containers for liquids and for food that may give off or be tainted by odor or flavor transfer, or cover them.

If you have a small quantity of food to store in the refrigerator, we recommend using the shelves above the crisper for fruits and vegetables, since this is the coolest area of the compartment.

Foods that give off a large amount of ethylene gas and those that are sensitive to this gas, such as fruit, vegetables, and salad, should always be separated or wrapped so as not to reduce the storage life; for example, do not store tomatoes together with kiwi fruits or cabbage.

To avoid bottles falling over, you can use the bottle holder (available on selected models).

Do not store food too close together to enable sufficient air circulation.

FREEZER COMPARTMENT

The freezer is the ideal storage location for store-bought frozen food, making ice cubes, and freezing fresh food in the freezer compartment.

The maximum number of kilograms of fresh food that can be frozen within a 24-hour period is indicated on the rating plate (...kg/24h).

If you have a small quantity of food to store in the freezer, we recommend using the coldest areas of your freezer compartment, corresponding to the bottom area.
