Why does my subwoofer have no sound?
Check that the subwoofer is powered on, the volume is turned up, and the input cables are securely connected. Also verify that the receiver's subwoofer output is enabled.
What does the phase switch do?

Does the SA-W55X have a built-in amplifier?
Yes, it is an active subwoofer with a built-in amplifier, so no external amplifier is needed.
What is the power consumption in standby?
