Frequently Asked Questions - PROJECT 315 FBT

What is the power handling of the FBT PROJECT 315?
The FBT PROJECT 315 has a power handling of 400 W RMS and 800 W peak.
Can the PROJECT 315 be used with a subwoofer?
Yes, the PROJECT 315 is designed to work with subwoofers for extended low-frequency response. Use an external crossover or DSP.
How do I clean the speaker grille?
Remove the grille and clean it with a soft brush or vacuum. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution and dry thoroughly.
What type of amplifier should I use?
Use a professional amplifier rated between 400 W and 800 W at 8 ohms per channel. Ensure the amplifier is stable into the nominal impedance.
Can I mount the speaker on a tripod stand?
Yes, the PROJECT 315 has a 35 mm pole mount socket on the bottom for use with standard speaker stands.
What is the recommended crossover frequency?
If using a subwoofer, set the crossover between 80 Hz and 120 Hz. For passive operation, use an external crossover with the speaker's full-range input.
Is the speaker weather-resistant?
The enclosure is treated with a polyurethane coating, but exposure to rain or extreme humidity is not recommended. Use a weather cover if needed.
How can I check if the speaker is working properly?
Perform a visual inspection for damage, listen for distortion or rattling, and measure impedance with a multimeter. Expected impedance is around 8 ohms.
What is the maximum SPL of the PROJECT 315?
The PROJECT 315 can achieve a maximum SPL of 128 dB peak, making it suitable for medium-sized venues.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact FBT authorized dealers or service centers for genuine replacement parts such as woofers, tweeters, or grilles.

Important information for correct disposal of the product in accordance with European Directive 2012/19/UE

This product must not be disposed of as urban waste at the end of its working life. It must be taken to a special waste collection centre licensed by the local authorities or to a dealer providing this service. Separate disposal of electric and/or electronic equipment (WEEE) will avoid possible negative consequences for the environment and for health resulting from inappropriate disposal, and will enable the constituent materials to be recovered, with significant savings in energy and resources. As a reminder of the need to dispose of this equipment separately, the product is marked with a crossed-out wheeled dustbin.

□ Only qualified staff shall carry out speakers connection.
☐ In order to avoid the danger of electrical shock, the speaker shall never be connected when the amplifier is on.
☐The speaker shall be protected from the following elements: weathering agents such as humidity, large temperature variation, excess heat etc.
In order to avoid the inductive phenomena causing noise and disturbance, speakers lines shall not be channelled with power conductors, microphone cables, or with amplifier's signal lines.
☐ The loudspeaker installation shall comply with the current law and regulations concerning electrical systems. This product shall be installed and used considering all the technical data provided and using only the attachments provided with it.

INTRODUZIONE

INTRODUCTION

PROJECT speakers have been created and developed in order to provide the suitable solution for any loudspeaker installation: their characteristics allow their use in any environment, keeping the same high sound quality.

The PROJECT range features a compact two-way system ensuring high power performances, wide dynamics, high-fidelity music reproduction and high speech intelligibility.

PROJECT speakers are preset for an easy assembly, making the installation easier, cutting costs and saving time.

The PROJECT series includes:

SERIES 300: 315WT/BT - 320WT/BT

SERIES 500: 530WT/BT - 550WT/BT

SERIES 600: 640WT/BT - 660WT/BT

The speaker can be connected to audio lines at constant voltage (100V / 70V) or with constant impedance (switch set at 8 Ohm).

Connect the negative conductor from amplifier's output ("0" / "COM" /-") to the "-" of speaker input connector (A). Connect amplifier's positive conductor (output 100V/70 V or "+" to the "+" of the connector (A).

A speaker can be used both in constant voltage sound systems and constant impedance systems.

☐ The input voltage selected on the speaker must correspond to the voltage selected on the amplifier output.
☐ The sum of the nominal power values of all the connected speakers must not exceed that of the amplifier.

CONSTANT IMPEDANCE SYSTEMS

☐ The total load impedance of all the connected speakers must be no less than the impedance selected on the amplifier output, to avoid the risk of serious damage to the amplifier.
☐ The sum of nominal power values of all connected speakers must be no less than that of the amplifier.
☐ Connection cable lenghts must be kept to the indispensable minimum.

COLLEGAMENTO DEI DIFFUSORI CON SISTEMA A TENSIONE COSTANTE

This connection system implies that each speaker is equipped with its own line transformer. The amplifier shall be equipped with 100V/70V constant voltage outputs.

The loudspeakers connected in parallel to amplifier's output will make system expansion easier, if required, by simply shunting from any of the previously installed speakers. Similarly, the loudspeakers which are not necessary anymore can be removed.

Matching the "phase" is necessary both in the connection of each speaker to its own transformer and in the connection in parallel of the speakers.

All the constant voltage outputs (100V / 70V) of a single amplifier can be connected at the same time, provided that amplifier's rated power remains equal or higher to the sum of the power of all the speakers installed on each output line.

Using the following formula: P = V^2 / Z with V being 100/70V and Z being speaker's transformer primary impedance- any power applied to each speaker can be calculated. If, instead, you know the voltage (100V/70V) and the rated power (or powers) of the transformer and you want to calculate transformer impedance, the following formula applies: Z = V^2 / P

SPEAKER'S CONNECTION TO A CONSTANT IMPEDANCE

Constant impedance outputs are generally used in the case of lines with a small number of speakers having a certain power and being placed at a minimum distance from the amplifier.

Speakers connection will be a combination of connection in parallel and series connection, so to bring loudspeakers total impedance to a value which is not critical for the amplifier. In the series connection the positive lug shall be connected to the negative lug of the following speaker.

In the connection with constant impedance it is always recommended that speakers total power is higher than the power supplied by the amplifier.

If in the connection with constant impedance the volume of one or more speakers needed to be set independently or also if any speaker needed to be switched off, the use of attenuators keeping impedance constant is required. In the series connection, whatever the impedance of each speaker, the total impedance results from the sum of all the impedances. Anyway, using sound speakers with equal impedance and power is recommended.
