Frequently Asked Questions - SR-E28 PANASONIC

How do I measure the correct amount of rice and water?
Use the supplied measuring cup. For white rice, fill water to the corresponding line inside the inner pot. Typically, 1 cup of rice needs about 1.2 to 1.5 cups of water.
Can I cook other grains in the SR-E28?
Yes, you can cook brown rice, quinoa, or oatmeal, but water amounts and cooking times may vary. Refer to the manual for specific guidelines.
How do I clean the rice cooker?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Wash the inner pot and lid with mild detergent and a soft sponge. Do not immerse the cooker body in water.
Why does the rice cooker switch to 'Keep Warm' automatically?
Once the rice is fully cooked, the thermostat triggers the 'Keep Warm' mode to maintain serving temperature without overcooking.
What should I do if the rice is undercooked?
Add a few tablespoons of water, stir, and press the cook lever again. If it doesn't switch back, let it sit covered for a few minutes.
Can I leave the rice on 'Keep Warm' for several hours?
It is safe for up to 5-6 hours, but quality deteriorates. For best results, consume within 2 hours.
How do I prevent rice from sticking to the pot?
Rinse rice thoroughly before cooking to remove excess starch. Ensure the inner pot is dry and the non-stick coating is intact.
Is the inner pot dishwasher safe?
No, hand wash only. Dishwasher detergents can damage the non-stick coating.
What does the indicator light mean?
A red light means cooking is in progress. When it switches to amber or green, the cooker is on 'Keep Warm'.
