USER MANUAL VKE2012 YAMAHA
Thank you for purchasing the Yamaha VKE2015, VKE2012, VKE2010 Speaker System (hereinafter referred to as "the speaker").
This guide is intended for qualified installation contractors and explains how to install the speaker and convert to an amplifier. After reading this guide, please keep it available for future reference.
*The example illustrations used in this guide are taken from the VK-2012, if not otherwise specified.
Precautions
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING

WARNING
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:
If you notice any abnormality
- If any of the following problems occur, immediately turn off the power of the amplifier.
Unusual smells or smoke are emitted.
Some object, or water has been dropped into the
product
- There is a sudden loss of sound during use of the
product:

Do not open
- This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to disassemble the internal parts or modify them in any way.
Water warning
- Do not expose the product to rain, use it near water or in dump or wet conditions, or place on it any containers (such as vases, bottles or glasses) containing liquids which might spill into any openings.
Fire warning
- Do not place any burning items or open flames near the product, since they may cause a fire.
Hearing loss
- Before turning the power of all devices on or off, make sure that all volume levels are set to the minimum. Tating to do so may result in hearing loss, electric shock, or device damage. - When turning on the AC power in your audio system always turn on the power amplifier LAST, to avoid hearing loss and speaker damage. When turning the power off, the power amplifier should be turned off FIRST for the same reason.
CAUTION
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or others. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following: Location and connection
- Do not place the product in an unstable position or a location with excessive vibration, where it might occasionally fall over and cause injury.
- Keep this product out of reach of children. This product is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.
- Do not place the product in a location where it may come into contact with curative gates or salt air. Doing so many result in malfunction.
- Before moving the product, remove all connected cables.
- When transporting, moving, or installing the product, always use two or more people. Attempting to lift the product by yourself may result in injuries, such as back injuries, or cause the product to be dropped and broken, which could lead to other injuries.
- Do not use the speaker's handles for suspended installation. Doing so can result in damage or injury.
- Do not hold the bottom of the product when transporting or moving it. In doing so, you may pinch your hands under the product, and result in injury.
- Do not press the rear panel of the product against the wall. During in may cause the plug and speaker cable to come in contact with the wall and detach from the power cord, resulting in short circulating, malfunction, or even fire.
• Always consult qualified Yamuba service personnel if the product installation requires construction work. Improper installation might cause accidents, injuries, damage or malfunction of this product.
- Use only speaker cables for connecting speakers to the speaker packs. Use of other types of cables may result in line.
Handling caution
- Do not rest your weight on the product or place heavy objects on it.
- What choosing a power amplifier for use with this product, make sure that the output power of the amplifier is lower than the power capacity of this product. If the output power is higher than the power capacity, malfunction or fire may occur.
- Do not input excessively loud signals that may result in clipping in the amplifier or cause the following:
Feedback, when using a microphone
Continuous and extremely loud sound from a musical instrument, etc.
- Continuous and excessively loud distortal sound Noise caused by plugging/unplugging the cable while the amplifier is turned on
Even if the output power of the amplifier is lower than the power capacity of this product (program), during to the product, malfunction or fine may occur.
Notice
To avoid the possibility of malfunction or damage to the product, or damage to other property, follow the notices below.
Handling and maintenance
- Do not expose the product to excessive dust or vibration, or extreme cold or heat, in order to prevent the possibility of panel disfiguration, unstable operation, or damage to the internal components.
- Do not touch the speaker driver unit, since it might cause malfunction.
- Do not place vinyl, plastic or rubber objects on the product, since this might cause alteration or discoloration of the panel.
- While cleaning the product, use a dry and soft cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnated wiping cloths, since this might cause alteration or discoloration.
- Protection Circuit
This speaker system has an internal protection circuit that shuts off the HF driver unit when an excessive input signal is applied. If the HF driver unit emits no sound, reduce the volume level of the amplifier immediately. (The sound will return automatically in several seconds.)
- Do not place the speaker face down, as deformation of the grille may result.
• Air blowing out of the bass reflex parts is normal, and often occurs when the speaker is handling program material with heavy bass content.

Mounting the Speaker to a Ceiling
Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage or injury caused by insufficient strength of the support structure or improper installation.
CAUTION
- Before doing any installation or construction work, consult with your Yamaha dealer.
- Do not attach the speaker to thin plywood or soft wall surface materials, as the screws may tear free from flimsy surfaces, causing the speaker to fall and be damaged, or result in personal injury.
- To avoid accidents resulting from tripping over loose speaker cables, fly these to the wall along with the speaker.
- The installation should be checked thoroughly at regular intervals. Some fittings may deteriorate over extended periods of time due to wear and/or corrosion.
- Do not fasten the speaker to the ceiling with nails, adhesives, or other unsound hardware. Long-term use and vibrations may cause them to pull free.
Notice
The required length of a screw differs depending on the mounting bracket to be used. Select a screw which is suitable for use with the mounting bracket and can be fully inserted into the hole on the speaker:
You can mount the speaker to the ceiling by using commercially available mounting brackets. To fix the speaker to a mounting bracket, use commercially available screws (M10 x 2) inserted to the screw holes on the tap or both sides of the speaker as shown below.

Connecting to Your Amplifier
CAUTION
- Before making connections, make sure that the amplifier is switched off. - Do not connect the speakers in parallel as it may cause damage or malfunction to the connected amplifier.
Notice
- Use only Neutrik NL4 plugs for connecting speakON connectors. - For more details in connection, refer to your amplifier's manual.

Mounting to the Pole Socket Removing
The socket at the bottom is compatible with commercially available speaker stands and speaker poles of 35 mm diameter.

e Speaker Grille
For maintenance purposes, you can remove the speaker grille by removing the attachment screws (VKE2015: 10 pes; VKF2012: 8 pes; VKF2010: 6 pes) on the grille. Be careful not to lose any of the removed screws since they will be necessary for attaching the speaker grille again.
Notice
- Be careful not to scratch yourself with the edge of the speaker grille. - Be sure to work on a subtle place.
