Frequently Asked Questions - VKE2012 YAMAHA

What is the power handling capacity of the Yamaha VKE2012?
The VKE2012 has a noise power rating of 350 W, a program power rating of 700 W, and a maximum power rating of 1400 W. It is important to ensure the amplifier output power does not exceed these ratings to prevent damage.
How do I connect the VKE2012 to an amplifier?
Use speaker cables with Neutrik NL4 speakON plugs. Connect the amplifier to the speakON connector on the speaker. Ensure the amplifier is switched off before making connections, and do not connect speakers in parallel to avoid damage.
What type of speaker cable should I use?
Use only speaker cables designed for connecting speakers to amplifier outputs. Do not use other types of cables. For the speakON connector, use Neutrik NL4 plugs and wire them as shown in the manual.
Can the VKE2012 be mounted on a ceiling?
Yes, the speaker can be mounted to a ceiling using commercially available mounting brackets and M10 screws (35 mm or longer) inserted into the threaded holes on the top or sides. Always consult a qualified installer and ensure the support structure is strong enough.
What are the dimensions and weight of the VKE2012?
The dimensions are 372 mm (W) x 800 mm (H) x 395 mm (D) and the weight is 19.9 kg.
How do I clean the speaker grille?
For maintenance, the grille can be removed by removing the attachment screws (8 pcs for VKE2012). Clean with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, or chemical-impregnated cloths.
What should I do if the HF driver stops producing sound?
The VKE2012 has an internal protection circuit that shuts off the HF driver when an excessive input signal is applied. If no sound from the HF driver, reduce the amplifier volume immediately. The sound will return automatically after several seconds.
What is the recommended amplifier power for the VKE2012?
Choose an amplifier with output power lower than the power capacity of the speaker. The program power is 700 W, so an amplifier with around 350-700 W per channel at 8 ohms is appropriate. Exceeding the maximum rating may cause malfunction or fire.
Can I use the VKE2012 outdoors?
The speaker is designed for indoor use. Do not expose it to rain, water, or humid conditions. It should not be placed in locations where it may come into contact with corrosive gases or salt air.
How do I remove the grille for maintenance?
To remove the grille, unscrew the attachment screws (8 pcs for VKE2012) on the front grille. Be careful not to lose the screws, as they are needed for reattachment. Work on a stable surface to avoid scratching.
