How do I change the battery in my La Crosse Technology LTV-BBQ1 thermometer?

To change the battery, slide the battery compartment cover on the back of the display unit. Remove the old CR2032 battery and insert a new one with the positive side facing up. Replace the cover.

What is the maximum temperature the probe can withstand?

The stainless steel probe can withstand temperatures up to 572°F (300°C). However, the probe cable should not be exposed to temperatures above 400°F (204°C) to prevent damage.

Can I use the LTV-BBQ1 thermometer in the oven?

No, the display unit is not oven-safe. Only the probe can be placed in the oven, but the cable may be damaged above 400°F. It is designed for grilling, smoking, and frying, not for enclosed ovens.

How accurate is the temperature reading?

The thermometer has an accuracy of ±1.8°F (±1°C) within the specified range, ensuring reliable readings for precise cooking.

Is the thermometer waterproof?

The display unit is splash resistant (IPX4) but not waterproof. It can withstand light rain or splashes, but should not be submerged. The probe is waterproof and can be washed.

How do I set the meat type and desired doneness?

Press the 'MEAT' button to cycle through pre-programmed meats (Beef, Pork, Poultry, Lamb, Fish, Game). Use the 'COOK' button to select doneness level (Rare, Medium, Well-done). The thermometer will alert when the target temperature is reached.

What is the wireless range of the thermometer?

The wireless range is up to 300 feet (90 meters) in open air, but walls and obstacles may reduce the range. For best performance, keep the receiver within line of sight.

Can I calibrate the thermometer?

The LTV-BBQ1 is factory calibrated and does not have a user calibration option. If you suspect inaccurate readings, test with ice water (should read 32°F/0°C) or boiling water (212°F/100°C at sea level).
If off by more than 2°F, contact customer support.

How do I clean the probe?

After use, allow the probe to cool. Clean the probe with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge the probe connection end. Wipe the display unit with a damp cloth only.

What should I do if the display shows 'HHH' or 'LLL'?

'HHH' indicates the temperature is above the max range (572°F), and 'LLL' indicates below the min range (-4°F). Remove the probe from extreme temperatures immediately. If the probe is at a normal temperature and still shows errors, check the probe connection or replace the probe.

POWER UP

1. Insert 2-AAA batteries into your BBQ Thermometer.
2. Hold the POWER button ⏻ to turn on or off.
3. Adjust time and temperature settings.

Cable Cartridge will slide over the front of the thermometer to protect the screen during storage. The Cable Cartridges will "stack" together.

SETTINGS

1. Hold the SET button to enter the Settings Menu.
2. Use the PLUS (+) button to adjust, and the SET button to confirm and move to the next setting.

Settings Menu order:

• Hour
- Minutes
• Fahrenheit/Celsius

USE TEMPERATURE PROBE

1. Unwind one or both Temperature Probe cords from the Cable Cartridge, and connect it into either the A or B jack on the side of the thermometer. Allow a few seconds for data to appear.
2. Insert the metal probe into the thickest part of your meat.

Two Probes: Toggle Time and Probe on the top.

• With a single probe attached, the Probe Temperature will appear in the bottom section with the Time on top.
• If using two Temperature Probes, both readings will show on the display. Press the PLUS (+) button to switch between Time & top Temperature Probe readings.

• When no Temperature Probe is attached, only the Time will show. Display will automatically shut off after 7-10 minutes.
• Err will display if the Temperature Probe is not inserted fully into the jack, or if it is no longer in working order.

Note: If one or two probes are attached, the display will stay on until turned off. Hold the POWER button to turn off or turn on the display.

CONNECT TO THE LA CROSSE VIEW™ APP

If you already own a La Crosse View connected display, you can use the La Crosse View app to view your BBQ Thermometer readings, as well as set temperature alerts right on your phone.

1. Open your La Crosse View app and select ADD DEVICES from the main menu.
2. Scan the bar code or type in the Device ID on the back of your BBQ Thermometer.
3. Give the device a Name and Location, and press Save.

TRANSMISSION INDICATOR

The Transmission Indicator 🙏 relates to the Temperature Probe readings sent to your La Crosse View App.

• A solid indicator tells you your thermometer has power and the Temperature Probe is connected.
• This indicator will flash twice during each transmission
• No indicator will show if the thermometer is not updating to your app, or if your probe is not inserted.

Note: The LTV-BBQ1 thermometer is fully functional without being connected to the La Crosse view app.

BACKLIGHT

- Press any button for a 10 second backlight.

LOW BATTERY INDICATOR

When the Low Battery Indicator is displayed, replace the batteries.
