Intended use
This grill is designed for contact grilling and grilling of food with short or medium cooking time and for gratinating and toasting (domestic use only). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and harbour considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.

Packing material
Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Put also plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins.

Warning: Read all safety advices and instructions. Non-observance of the safety advices and instructions may cause electric shock, fire and/or bad injuries.
General safety advices
- Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.

Keep the product and its cord out of the reach of children less than 8 years.

Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
- Children from the age of 8 and persons not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Do not at all operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
- Prior to each use, check the appliance and the accessories for soundness, it must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by a specialist.
- This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety standards. In case of signs of damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may be done by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
- Improper use and non-observance of the instruction manual will void warranty.
Safety advices for using the appliance
Attention: Hazard of injury or burns! During operation, the appliance's

surfaces are getting hot and firstly stay hot even after switching the appliance off. Keep this in mind when touching the appliance. Mind hot fat splatters and rising vapour during use.
NOTE: For protection, we recommend using grill gloves and cutlery made of wood or plastic!
- Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of sources of heat (ovens, gas flames etc.) or in explosive environments where inflammable liquids or gases are located. Ensure an unhindered circulation of air.
- Place the appliance on a stable and even surface. Keep a distance of at least 10 cm to all sides and 1 m above the appliance in order to avoid damage through heat or fat splatters and to grant an unobstructed work area.
- Only operate the unit with grill plates locked in place properly.

When laying the power cord, make sure that nobody can get entangled or stumble over it so that accidentally pulling the appliance down can be avoided.

Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces, sharp edges and mechanical forces. Check the power cord regularly for damage and deteriorations. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.
- Do not place inflammable objects like tissues, grill cutlery etc. on the hot grilling surface.
- The appliance must be completely cooled before removing grill plates or before cleaning or moving the appliance.
- Never pour cold water on the hot grill plates. Neither pour inflammable liquids on the grill plates – the appliance is not suitable for flambéing!
- For a safe cut-off pull the mains plug after each use.
- For disconnecting the appliance from the mains, only pull the plug, never the cord!
- Do not store the grill outside or in wet rooms.
- Never immerse the appliance, power cord or plug in water for cleaning.
- Only operate appliance and accessories in dry condition – especially the grill plates and the electric connections must be absolutely dry.
Prior to first use
- Prior to the first grilling it is necessary to burn in the protective coating of the heating elements. To do so, heat up the appliance with inserted grill plates and in closed position (pos. A), at maximum temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Do not be bothered by the temporary formation of harmless smoke and smell. Please see for a good ventilation of the room.
- Wipe clean the cooled-down grilling surface with a moist cloth.
- Prior to initial use, pour once some cooking oil on a kitchen tissue and treat the upper side of the grill plates.
Grill positions
This grill is perfect for contact grilling, flat surface grilling, gratinating and toasting. It features the optimum grill position for each way of preparation:

Detachable grill plates

Attention! Before attaching or detaching the grill plates, let the unit cool down and disconnect it from the mains.
- Open up the grill at about an 90 degree angle.
- For detaching the plate, push the lateral release button (6) or (12) until the plate disengages. Then lift and take it off.
- See for a correct mounting when inserting the plates! The plates are appropriately marked with “lower plate” and “upper plate”
- For inserting the plates, position both detents of the plate in the intended holders at the grill. Shortly push the unlock button (6) or (12) and at the same time press the plate downwards until it clinches audibly.
• See to it that the grill plates sit properly.
Non-stick coating
The grill plates have a superior, easy to clean non-stick coating. Observe the following notes to avoid any damage:
- Never cut on the grill plates with a knife or similar object.
- Do not put aluminium trays, aluminium foil, pans, pots etc. on the grill plates.
- Do not use the grill plates for flambéing food.
- Do neither use cooking/grill cutlery made of metal nor pointed and edgy objects to put the food on the grill, turn it or remove it.
- Do not use abrasives, oven sprays or hard cleaning aids for cleaning the grill plate.
Variable position of the appliance's upper part
Height adjustment
The grill features a 5-step height adjustment to individually adjust the upper grill plate to the thickness of the food to be grilled. This adjustment is also perfect for protecting delicate food from getting squashed (e.g. fish, tomatoes, etc.).
For adjusting the height, lift the upper part of the grill and move the slider (8) backwards up to the desired position.
Fixing the upper part of the appliance (lock function)
The height adjustment also provides for a lock function, which fixes the upper part of the grill during transport and storage. For fixing, just move the slider (8) to the fore as far as it will go.
Opening up to form a flat surface grill
For opening up the appliance to the flat surface grill position, push the unlock button at the right hinged joint (9) and fold up the upper part of the grill completely.
Grilling
- Make sure the grill plates are inserted firmly and properly.
- Make sure the drip pan is properly inserted into the lower part of the grill.
- Connect the appliance to the mains and switch on the grill with the on/off switch (4). The red pilot lamp (1) glows, the appliance heats up.
- Pre-heat the grill in closed position (pos. A), until the green pilot lamp (2) lights up for the first time.
Note: The alternating glowing of both pilot lamps demonstrates the thermostatic regulation. - If the desired temperature has been reached, the grill position can be changed as required (pos. A, B, C).
- With the temperature regulator (3), the temperature can be increased or reduced at any time.
- For healthy low-fat grilling the grill plates feature an integrated fat drain at the rear edge. Draining oil or fat runs off and gets collected in the inserted drip pan.
- If the desired grilling result is achieved, switch off the grill with the ON/OFF switch (4), turn the temperature control (3) to “MIN” position and pull the mains plug.
- Let the appliance cool down before taking out the drip pan for emptying and cleaning
Cleaning and maintenance

Prior to cleaning always pull the mains plug! Never immerse appliance, mains plug and power cord in water! Hazard of burns! Before cleaning, let all parts cool down!
- Wipe casing and power cord with a damp cloth. Finally wipe dry thoroughly.
- Take out the grill plates and the drip pan for cleaning. Remove coarse soiling by means of a scraper made of wood or plastic. Afterwards, use a soft brush and some water with dishwashing detergent for cleaning. Rinse with clear water and dry thoroughly.
- Soak stubborn residues on the grill plate with warm water with dishwashing detergent.
• Always wipe dry thoroughly after cleaning. - Do not use a scouring agent or dissolvent! Do not use oven sprays for cleaning!
- Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning the appliance or the grill plates!
Grilling chart
Grilling times and temperature settings depend heavily on the thickness of the food and especially on your personal taste. Therefore, recommended settings are only reference values!

Note: In open position, the heat can escape more quickly and the food will take more time until done as if grilled in closed position.
