Frequently Asked Questions - RK 1702 Safe to Touch ECG

How do I descale the ECG RK 1702 kettle?
To descale, fill the kettle with a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1) or use a citric acid solution up to the max level. Boil, then let it sit for 15 minutes. Empty, rinse thoroughly, and repeat if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Why does my kettle turn off before boiling?
This may be due to limescale buildup on the heating element. Descale the kettle regularly. Also, ensure the lid is fully closed. If the problem persists, the boil-dry protection might be triggered if the water level is too low.
Can I boil milk or other liquids in this kettle?
No, this kettle is designed for water only. Boiling milk, soup, or other liquids can damage the appliance and create a safety hazard.
How do I clean the lime scale filter?
The filter can be removed by pulling it out gently. Rinse under running water and scrub with a soft brush. For stubborn deposits, soak in vinegar solution for a few hours before rinsing.
Is the outer surface of the kettle hot during use?
The Safe to Touch design ensures the exterior remains cool to the touch even when boiling, thanks to double-walled insulation. However, avoid touching the lid and spout as they may get hot.
What is the maximum capacity of this kettle?
The maximum capacity is 1.7 liters. Do not fill beyond the max marking to prevent spillage during boiling.
How do I use the one-button lid opening?
Press the button on the handle to release the lid. The lid opens automatically. Always ensure the kettle is unplugged when opening the lid, especially after boiling, to avoid steam burns.
What does the indicator light mean?
The indicator light turns on when the kettle is heating and turns off automatically when the water reaches boiling point or if the kettle is switched off manually.
Can I store the kettle on the base?
Yes, you can leave the kettle on the base for convenient storage. The 360° swivel base allows easy placement from any angle. Make sure the base is placed on a flat, dry surface.
What is the cord storage feature?
The base has a cord wrap underneath to store excess cable length. This keeps your counter tidy and prevents the cord from dangling.
