Frequently Asked Questions - Perspective Final Edition PRO-JECT

How do I change the speed from 33 to 45 rpm?

The Perspective Final Edition features electronic speed control. Simply press the speed selector button on the front panel to toggle between 33 1/3 and 45 rpm.

Which cartridge is pre-installed?

The turntable comes with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge pre-mounted on the headshell. It is aligned and ready for use.

Can I upgrade the cartridge?

Yes, the tonearm is compatible with standard 1/2-inch mount cartridges. You can replace the Ortofon 2M Red with any compatible cartridge, but ensure proper alignment using the provided protractor.

How do I connect the turntable to my amplifier?

Connect the supplied RCA cables to the output jacks on the turntable and the phono input on your amplifier. If your amplifier lacks a phono stage, you will need an external phono preamplifier. Also connect the ground wire to reduce hum.

Does the turntable have a built-in phono preamp?

No, the Perspective Final Edition is a pure analog turntable without a built-in phono stage. You need a separate phono preamplifier or an amplifier with a phono input.

How often should I replace the drive belt?

Under normal use, replace the belt every 2-3 years or if you notice speed fluctuations. Use only genuine Pro-Ject replacement belts.

What is the correct tracking force for the Ortofon 2M Red?

The recommended tracking force is 1.8 grams. Use the counterweight and anti-skate adjustment on the tonearm to set it accurately.

How do I clean the stylus?

Gently brush the stylus from back to front using a carbon fiber stylus brush or a specialized stylus cleaning fluid. Avoid touching the stylus tip with fingers.

The turntable is humming. What should I do?

Ensure the ground wire is connected to the amplifier's ground terminal. Also check that all cables are fully inserted and the turntable is placed away from sources of electromagnetic interference.

Is the platter heavy enough for stable rotation?

Yes, the 300 mm MDF platter is designed to provide sufficient mass for speed stability. Its weight helps minimize wow and flutter, ensuring accurate playback.

The original Pro-Ject 6.9 Perspective

The Pro-Ject 1 and 2 were big milestones for minimalistic design and sound quality, but designed for the entry HiFi market. One of our most important product was our first high-end turntable in the 90's: The Pro-Ject 6.9 and the Pro-Ject 6.9 Perspective.

Our gameplan for the Pro-Ject 1 and 2? A rigid plinth, a one piece tonearm, a heavy platter with AC motor and absolutely no hollow spaces inside the chassis. The result is a direct and dynamic sound, but it can be sensitive when the speakers are placed close to the turntable.

For the 6.9 we followed another philosophy:

The sub chassis design.

The construction is quite simple yet effective:

The tonearm and the platter are mounted on a sub chassis which is isolated with from the main chassis with springs. Therefore, vibrations cannot travel to the needle and influence the audio transcription. Also, the motor is isolated from the cartridge and vibration can not influence the pickup process. The result is a more open and rhythmic sound.

We are very happy to bring back this beautiful nostalgic turntable with a lot of Pro-Ject history in its veins. This „Final Edition“ is limited to 400 pieces and is sold with a personalized owners certificate.

Sub chassis

The sub chassis is decoupled with three adjustable springs to stop vibrations from traveling to the needle and influence the audio transcription.

Spike feet

The turntable rests on three aluminium spikes. Spikes are designed to reduce the contact area to minimize the vibration interference.
