What battery does the Nitecore P05 use?

The Nitecore P05 requires a single AAA alkaline or NiMH battery. A high‑quality alkaline cell is included in the package. For best performance, use a rechargeable NiMH battery (e.g., Nitecore NL1AAA).

How do I turn on the flashlight?

The Nitecore P05 features a twist switch. To turn it on, rotate the flashlight head clockwise until a click is felt. Rotate counter‑clockwise to turn off. The head can be slightly loosened to lock the light and prevent accidental activation.

Is the P05 waterproof?

Yes, the P05 has an IPX‑8 rating, meaning it can be submerged in water up to 2 meters deep for 30 minutes. However, ensure the head is fully tightened before exposure to water.

What is the maximum brightness?

The P05 delivers up to 80 lumens on high mode. It also features lower modes (mid and low) for extended runtime. The beam reaches approximately 30 meters on the highest setting.

How long does the battery last?

Runtime varies by mode: on high (80 lumens) about 1.5 hours, mid (30 lumens) about 5 hours, and low (3 lumens) up to 30 hours. Actual runtime depends on battery brand and condition.

Can I use rechargeable (NiMH) batteries?

Absolutely. The P05 works perfectly with NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries. They may provide a slightly lower output on high but still offer excellent performance and cost savings. Do not use lithium‑ion 3.7V batteries as they are not compatible.

How do I attach the flashlight to a keychain?

The P05 has a built‑in keychain loop at the tail cap. Simply thread your key ring through the loop. The light is designed to be compact and lightweight for everyday carry.

Is the P05 impact resistant?

Yes, it can withstand a drop from 1 meter onto a hard surface. The aluminum body and rugged construction protect against accidental falls.

How should I clean and maintain the flashlight?

Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners. Periodically check the O‑ring (located near the head) and apply a thin layer of silicone grease if it appears dry. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods.

What should I do if the flashlight stops working?

First, check the battery orientation and condition. Try a fresh battery. If it still doesn't work, clean the battery contacts with a dry cloth. For further issues, contact Nitecore customer support. Do not attempt to disassemble the flashlight as it may void the warranty.

Operation Instructions Battery Installation

Insert a CR123 or RCR123 battery with the positive polarity pointing towards the head as illustrated in the diagram:

NOTE: Upon battery installation, the built-in power indicator will blink to report remaining battery power, for more information, please refer to the "Power Tips" section.

Caution:

1. Do not install battery backward, it will render the P05 inoperative.

2. AVOID direct eye exposure.

Tactical Momentary Illumination

Hold the tail switch partway down to enter momentary illumination, release the switch to turn the light off.

ON/OFF

Press the tail switch until a click is heard to turn on the P05, press the tail switch again to turn off.

Brightness Adjustment

With the light turned on, press the "MODE" switch to cycle through High-Mid-Low output. The P05 comes with no memory effect for brightness, it will turn on in "High" by default.

STROBE READY

1. With the light turned off, hold down the "MODE" switch to turn on strobe instantly, release the switch to turn off.
2. With the light turned on, hold down the "MODE" switch for 0.2 second to enter strobe, pressing the "MODE" switch again enters brightness adjustment, to turn off, press the tail switch
   Note: The P05 has memory effect under strobe mode, turning the P05 on after it was turned off in strobe mode will resume the same mode.

Power Tips

Upon battery installation, the built-in power indicator will blink to report remaining battery power:

3 blinks, battery power over 50%
2 blinks, battery power below 50%
1 blink, battery power below 10%

Note: The power indication is set to be activated after 5 seconds of power cutoff. To inspect battery power, please loosen the tail cap, wait 5 seconds and re-tighten it.

Changing Batteries

Batteries should be replaced when any of the following occurs: The power indicators blink rapidly, output appears to be dim or the flashlight becomes unresponsive.

Maintenance

Every 6 months, threads should be wiped with a clean cloth followed by a thin coating of silicon-based lubricant.

Warranty Details

Our authorized dealers and distributors are responsible for warranty service. Should any problem covered under warranty occurs, customers can contact their dealers or distributors in regards to their warranty claims, as long as the product was purchased from an authorized dealer or distributor. NITECORE's Warranty is provided only for products purchased from an authorized source. This applies to all NITECORE products.

Any DOA / defective product can be exchanged for a replacement through a local distributor/dealer within the 15 days of purchase. After 15 days, all defective / malfunctioning NITECORE® products can be repaired free of charge for a period of 60 months (5 years) from the date of purchase. Beyond 60 months (5 years), a limited warranty applies, covering the cost of labor and maintenance, but not the cost of accessories or replacement parts.
