Frequently Asked Questions - 16270007 Melissa

How do I use the Melissa egg cooker?
Fill the measuring cup with water according to the number of eggs and desired doneness (soft, medium, hard). Pour water onto the hotplate. Pierce the rounded end of each egg with the piercing tool on the tray. Place eggs in tray, put tray on hotplate, cover with lid, plug in and switch on. The indicator light turns on. When water evaporates, the appliance shuts off automatically with a buzz. Unplug, remove lid carefully, and cool eggs immediately.
How much water should I use?
Use the measuring cup provided. The numbers 1-6 indicate the number of eggs. Use the Soft scale for soft-boiled, Medium for medium-boiled, and Hard for hard-boiled eggs. The cup has markings for each setting.
How do I avoid eggs cracking during cooking?
Pierce a small hole in the rounded end of each egg using the egg piercing tool on the tray. This releases pressure and prevents cracking.
What do the markings on the measuring cup mean?
The numbers 1-6 correspond to the number of eggs. The labels Soft, Medium, and Hard indicate the water level for the desired doneness.
How does the automatic shut-off work?
The appliance has a thermostat that switches it off when all water has evaporated. You will hear a buzz. This prevents overcooking and ensures safety.
How do I clean the egg cooker?
Unplug and let it cool. Never submerge the base, cord, or plug in water. Wipe the hotplate and base with a damp cloth. Use mild detergent if heavily soiled. Dry fully before next use.
How do I descale the hotplate?
Use a mixture of 1 part household vinegar to 10 parts water. Pour onto the hotplate, let stand for 30 minutes, then pour away and wipe with a damp cloth.
Can I cook more than 6 eggs?
No, the appliance is designed for a maximum of 6 eggs. Overloading may cause uneven cooking or safety hazards.
What should I do if the egg cooker doesn't turn on?
Check that the plug is securely connected and the outlet is working. Ensure the appliance has water (it may not heat without water). If still not working, contact an authorised repairer. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
Is the egg cooker safe to leave unattended?
No, always keep the appliance under constant supervision while in use. Keep children away. The appliance automatically shuts off, but hot surfaces and steam are still hazards.
