Congratulations on choosing the C3 Water Kettle 1.2 Litre. You have bought a quality product that you will be able to use and enjoy for many years.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliance, basic safely precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. Do not touch hot surfaces. Only use handles and knobs.
2. To protect against fire, electric shock and personal injury do not immerse cord, plugs or kettle in water or other liquid.
3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children.
4. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
5. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the service center for examination and repair.
6. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.
7. Do not use outdoors.
8. Do not let cord hang over edge of table counter or touch hot surfaces.
9. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
10. Always close the lid securely before switching on to avoid contact with boiling water.
11. Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the kettle too fast.
12. Always fill enough water to cover at least the bottom of the kettle, we suggest one cup minimum.
13. Ensure that the kettle is used on a firm, flat surface.
14. Unplug the kettle before filling or pouring.
15. Make sure the kettle is switched off before lifting or pouring.
16. Avoid contact with steam from the spout (2) when the water is boiling or just after it has switched off. Take care if opening the lid (1) for refilling when the kettle is hot.
17. Do not fill above the MAX marked on the inside of the kettle body.

18. WARNING: If this kettle is overfilled, there could be a risk of electric hazard, and boiling water may be ejected.

19. Do not hold the ON button (3) whilst boiling, this may cause steam to be ejected from around the lid and could damage the automatic switch-off device.

20. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the outside of the kettle - these may scratch the surface.
21. Do not use the kettle for any use other than to boil water.
22. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot water.
23. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
24. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the appliance's bottom cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Repairs should be done by authorized personnel only.
25. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
26. Do not operate the kettle near the edge of worktops or within the reach of children.
27. This appliance must not operate by an external timer or separate remote control system.
28. This kettle must be used only with the power base (7) supplied.
29. Ensure that the kettle has switched itself off automatically or is switched off manually before removing it from its power base (7).
30. Always remove the kettle from its power base (7) before filling.
31. Do not open the lid (1) when the kettle is in use.

CAUTION: Before operating the kettle, ensure that the lid (1) is fully closed and the filter (9) fitted correctly, otherwise the kettle may not switch off automatically.

WARNING: To avoid hazards, do not fill above the MAX water level as marked on the water level window (6).

BEFORE USE

• Before the kettle is used for the first time, rinse and dry the kettle.
• To remove any smell during manufacturing, boil a full kettle of water by following the instructions in HOW TO USE YOUR KETTLE.
- Dispose of the hot water.
• The kettle is now ready to use

HOW TO USE YOUR KETTLE

1. Open the lid (1) by pressing the lid button (10).
2. Fill the kettle with water through the opening to the MAX water level.
3. Close the lid (1) securely.
4. Place the power base (7) on a flat surface, and connect to the wall outlet.
5. Place the kettle onto the power base (7) and press the ON switch (3).
6. The power-on neon (4) will light up, indicating the kettle is operating.
7. When the water boils, the kettle will switch off automatically.
8. Pour hot water by grasping the handle (5).

REBOILING

Always wait for the kettle to cool for a few minutes before reboiling, the automatic shut off device will not function when it is hot. To reboil, press the ON button (3) again.

DRY BOIL PROTECTION

If you switch ON with too little water, the safety cut-out device will switch off the power automatically. Let it cool down before re-filling. When it has cooled down, the switch will reset itself.

NOTE: Drops of water may occur under your kettle because of condensation, this is normal and will not cause any hazards.

DESCALING AND CLEANING

This kettle is fitted with an element concealed in the kettle base. It is important the kettle is descaled as appropriate - this will vary on usage and hardness of water in your area.

NOTE: SCALE COULD CAUSE THE KETTLE TO MALFUNCTION AND MAY DAMAGE THE ELEMENT INVALIDATING THE WARRANTY. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT REGULAR DESCALING TAKES PLACE AS FOLLOWS:

1. Fill the kettle ^3/_4 of the MAX mark, then switch ON and allow to boil.
2. Unplug and leave the kettle to stand.
3. Add descaling solution into the kettle and leave for one overnight. DO NOT USE A MORE CONCENTRATED SOLUTION THEN IT IS RECOMMENDED.
4. Dispose of the water and rinse thoroughly.
5. Fill the kettle with clean water, and boil again.
6. Dispose of the water again.
7. The kettle is now ready to use.

NOTE: Wipe the outside of the kettle thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove all traces of acid which may damage the finish.

NOTE: Ensure that the electrical connections are completely dry before using the kettle.
