Frequently Asked Questions - MagniView OD-36 Carson

How do I use the Carson MagniView OD-36 magnifier?
Place the magnifier over the object you are viewing. Adjust the distance until the image is in focus. Your eye should be reasonably close to the magnifier for best results.
What magnifications are available?
The MagniView OD-36 offers 2x, 3x, 6x, and 10x magnification. The higher the magnification, the closer the lens must be to the object.
What is a Fresnel lens?
A Fresnel lens is a flat lens with concentric grooves. Even though it is flat, it still requires proper distance from the object to focus; placing it directly on top won't work.
How should I clean the magnifier?
Use a microfiber lens cloth to gently wipe the lens. Do not use abrasive materials, chemical cleaners, or solvents as they may damage the lens.
Can I use the magnifier for reading small print?
Yes, it is ideal for reading small print. Choose 2x or 3x magnification for reading, and 6x or 10x for examining tiny details.
What is the focal length for each magnification?
For 2x: 10 inches; 3x: 5 inches; 6x: 2 inches; 10x: 1 inch. This is the approximate distance from the magnifier to the object for proper focus.
Is the magnifier safe for children?
No, it is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children to avoid potential eye injury or accidental breakage.
Can I use the magnifier outdoors?
Yes, but avoid direct sunlight as it can concentrate light and cause damage or fire hazard. Use in shaded areas.
Does the magnifier require batteries?
No, it is an optical magnifier that uses only ambient light. No batteries or power source needed.
What accessories are included?
The package typically includes the magnifier and a microfiber cleaning cloth. Check your product packaging for exact contents.

USER MANUAL MagniView OD-36 Carson

Congratulations on selecting your new Carson magnifier!

With reasonable care, your magnifier will provide you with years of aid and enjoyment. In order to achieve optimum performance, please read the instructions carefully on the proper use and care of your magnifier.

TO USE:

Place the magnifier over the object you are viewing. The higher the magnifying power, the closer the magnifier must be to the object to get a proper focus - see chart below for examples. For best results, your eye should also be reasonably close to the magnifier.

MAGNIFYING POWERAPPROXIMATE FOCAL LENGTH (in.)
2x10
3x5
6x2
10x1

This guideline also applies to spot lenses, which typically require the magnifier to be quite close to the object. If your magnifier has a Fresnel lens (flat lens with grooves), the above guidelines still apply, so that even though the lens is flat, the magnifier will not focus if placed directly on top of an object.

* Clean using microfiber lens cloth. Do not use any abrasives, chemical cleaners, or solvents.
