How do I connect the Whirlwind OC Bass pedal?

What is the difference between Limit and Compress modes?

Compress mode gently evens out loud and soft levels to help the bass 'sit in the mix'. Limit mode is a more aggressive form of compression with a distinct flavor. Experiment to find your preference.

How does the Attack switch affect the sound?

The Attack switch selects how quickly compression kicks in. Fast acts almost instantly, Medium allows some initial attack through, and Slow lets even more of the note's attack pass before compression.

What do the Gain Reduction LEDs indicate?

The Gain Reduction LEDs display the amount of compression or limiting applied to the signal in decibels (dB). More lit LEDs mean more gain reduction.

Can I use a standard 9V power supply with this pedal?

No, the Whirlwind OC Bass requires 18V DC with a minimum of 60 mA and a center negative polarity. Using a 9V supply may not power the pedal correctly. The recommended adapter is the Whirlwind PS18EFX.

1: INPUT (JACK) - Connect your bass here.
2: OUTPUT (JACK) - Connect a cord out to your amplifier here.
3: 18 VDC 60 mA (JACK) - 2.1mm barrel jack, with the center negative for connecting an 18 Volt DC regulated supply, 60 mA capacity or greater with a center negative plug. The Whirlwind PS18EFX (included) is recommended for proper operation. + -
4: ATTACK (SWITCH) - Switches between three pre-defined attack rates. FAST causes the effect to kick in almost instantaneously, MED allows some of the note's initial attack to come through before the effect kicks in and SLOW allows even more of the initial attack to come through.
5: OUTPUT LEVEL (KNOB) - Controls the over all volume of the pedal.
6: LIMIT/COMPRESS (SWITCH) - Switches between Compression and Limit mode. Compression gently evens out the louder and softer levels in the signal and helps the bass "sit in the mix". Think of limiting as a more aggressive form of compression with a flavor all its own. Experiment!
7: INPUT GAIN (KNOB) - Controls how much compression / limiting is applied to the signal. Adjusting this control changes the overall volume of the effect. Use the OUTPUT LEVEL knob to match or even increase the overall volume feeding your amp.
8: GAIN REDUCTION (LEDs) - Displays the amount of limiting/compression in dBs.
9: ON/OFF (FOOTSWITCH) - Engages and disengages the effect. When engaged, the LED above the footswitch will illuminate.
