Frequently Asked Questions - AX11224 Barska

How do I register a fingerprint on my Barska AX11224 safe?
Ensure the safe door is open and the bolts are retracted. Press and release the Wake-Up Button (F), then place any finger on the Fingerprint Scanner (D) to retract bolts. Press and release the Initialization Button (A), then immediately place a finger on the scanner and hold still. You will hear 1 beep (recognition) followed by 2 beeps (success). Remove your finger. Repeat for additional fingerprints.
How do I open the safe if the batteries are dead?
Use the emergency key. Remove the logo plate (G) using the provided Allen wrench to expose the key access. Insert the emergency key and turn clockwise to open. Store the emergency keys in a secure place outside the safe.
How do I reset the safe to factory default mode?
Open the safe, remove the battery compartment cover and all 4 AA batteries. Press and release the Wake-Up Button a few times until no beeps are heard. Press and HOLD the Initialization Button (A) while reinserting the batteries. On the 4th battery, you will hear 1 beep followed by 2 beeps, indicating factory default. Release the button. All fingerprints are deleted.
Why does my safe beep repeatedly when the door is closed?
Three repetitive beeps when the door is closed indicate low battery. Replace all 4 AA batteries immediately. Registered fingerprints are retained during battery replacement.
How do I turn off the beep sound?
Press and HOLD the Initialization Button (A) until the indicator lights flash green, then release. To turn beep back on, press and hold until lights flash green followed by 1 beep, then release.
What does the door open alarm do?
If the safe door is left open with bolts retracted for more than 5 minutes, the safe will start beeping every 10-20 seconds. To stop the alarm, close the door and press the Wake-Up Button (F) to extend the bolts.
How do I mount the safe to the wall or floor?
Use the pre-drilled holes inside the safe. For wall mounting, locate studs, check for wires/pipes, drill holes for anchors, and secure screws from inside the safe. For floor mounting, use appropriate drill bits for the floor type and anchor accordingly. Always wear eye protection.
How do I clean the fingerprint scanner?
Use a dry cloth to gently wipe the fingerprint scanner after each use to remove smudges or prints. Do not use chemicals or cleaning agents.
What should I do if my registered fingerprints stop working?
Test your fingerprints every 6 months. If they fail, clean the scanner and try again. If still not working, the safe may have reverted to factory default mode; re-register your fingerprints. Ensure you register at least two different fingerprints.
What is covered under the 1-year warranty?
Barska warrants the safe to be free from defects in material and workmanship for 12 months from purchase. Damage from misuse, abuse, accidents, or unauthorized repairs is not covered. You must pay $40 for return shipping and handling. Contact Barska for an RMA number before returning.
