Frequently Asked Questions - AMW064US TARGUS

How do I connect the Targus AMW064US mouse to my computer?
Insert the provided USB nano receiver into an available USB port. The mouse will automatically pair. If not, press the connect button on the receiver and then the connect button on the mouse (usually under the battery cover).
How do I change the battery in the AMW064US mouse?
Slide off the battery cover (often located under the mouse). Remove the old AA battery and insert a new one following the polarity indicators (+/-). Replace the cover.
Why is my mouse cursor jumping or moving erratically?
Ensure the sensor is clean and the mouse is on a suitable surface (non-reflective). Try replacing the battery or moving closer to the receiver. Interference from other wireless devices may also cause issues.
How do I clean my Targus mouse?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For the sensor, gently use a cotton swab. Do not use liquids or abrasive cleaners. Keep the USB receiver dry.
Is the AMW064US compatible with macOS?
Yes, the mouse is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. It works as a standard HID device without additional drivers.
What is the maximum operating distance?
The wireless range is up to 10 meters (about 33 feet) in open line-of-sight. Walls and obstacles may reduce the range.
My scroll wheel is not working properly. What can I do?
First, check if the wheel is physically stuck or dirty. Clean around it with compressed air or a soft brush. Try reconnecting the receiver. If the issue persists, the mouse may need replacement.
Does the AMW064US have an on/off switch?
Most models feature a power switch on the underside to conserve battery life. Slide it to the OFF position when not in use.
What should I do if the USB receiver is lost?
Unfortunately, the receiver is paired specifically to your mouse and cannot be replaced separately. You would need to purchase a new mouse. Store the receiver in a safe place when not in use.
How do I know when the battery is low?
The mouse may have a battery indicator light (if equipped) that flashes or turns red when the battery is low. Additionally, you may experience intermittent connection or poor tracking. Replace the battery as soon as possible.
