Frequently Asked Questions - TC-200 DataVideo

How do I connect the TC-200 to my TV?
Connect the output of your video source (e.g., VCR, DVD player) to the input of the TC-200 using the appropriate cable (RCA or S-Video). Then connect the TC-200 to your TV via HDMI. Make sure the TC-200 is powered on. The TV should automatically detect the signal. If not, select the correct HDMI input on your TV.
Does the TC-200 support 4K resolution?
No, the TC-200 supports up to 1080p resolution. It converts analog signals to digital but does not upscale to 4K.
What power adapter is required?
The TC-200 requires a 5V DC power adapter with at least 1A output. The connector is a standard 2.1mm barrel jack with center positive polarity. Use only the adapter supplied with the device or one with identical specifications.
Why is there no video output?
First, check all cable connections and ensure the source device is powered on. Verify that the TC-200 is receiving power (LED indicator). Try a different HDMI cable or input. If using composite video, make sure the yellow RCA cable is connected to the correct input. Also, confirm the source is outputting a supported format (NTSC/PAL).
Can I use the TC-200 with a VCR?
Yes, the TC-200 is designed to convert analog signals from devices like VCRs. Use the composite (RCA) or S-Video output from your VCR and connect it to the corresponding input on the TC-200. Then connect the TC-200 to your display via HDMI.
How should I clean the TC-200?
To clean the device, disconnect it from power. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the exterior. Do not use any liquids, abrasive cleaners, or sprays, as they may damage the electronics.
Is the TC-200 compatible with Linux?
The TC-200 is a hardware converter that does not require any drivers. It works with any operating system, including Linux, as it simply passes video signals through without software interaction.
What cables are included with the TC-200?
The package typically includes the TC-200 unit, a 5V power adapter, and a HDMI cable. Composite (RCA) and S-Video cables are not included and must be purchased separately.
How can I update the firmware?
The DataVideo TC-200 does not have user-upgradable firmware. It is a fixed-function device. If issues arise, contact DataVideo support for assistance.
Where can I find the user manual?
The user manual for the DataVideo TC-200 is available for download on notice-facile.com in PDF format. You can also request a translated version by selecting your language and providing your email on the manual page.

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Datavideo TC-200, Title Creator, overlay box. The TC-200 can be used with Datavideo's Windows based Character Generator software such as CG-200, CG-250, CG-350 and CG-500. The CG Software Series and the TC-200 Title Creator form a DSK subtitle system that allows you to create professional and eye-catching DSK subtitles using your laptop, thereby simplifying and facilitating your video production using mobile switchers.

The TC-200 is designed to be portable and rugged as well as quick and easy to set up in the field. It allows producers to create professional CG overlays with a Windows laptop instead of transporting a high end desktop PC with PCIe cards fitted.

The TC-200 Title Creator allows you to create subtitles with your switcher in two different ways.

1. Downstream Key

You may assign alpha signal (key source) and T-signal (fill source) to respective outputs of the TC-200 and then connect them to any switchers equipped with the DSK function such as Datavideo's HS-2800 or HS-1200 switcher.

2. CG Overlay

TC-200 may be configured as a CG overlay device that accepts external SDI video which is then combined internally with the subtitles and delivered to the device output. CG overlay is generally used for switchers without the DSK capability or videos created without subtitles.

This manual covers the TC-200 overlay box only, a separate manual is provided with the supplied Character Generator software.

Features

  • HDMI input for laptop CG overlay input*.
    • HD/SD-SDI video input for overlay or optional genlock
  • Two HD/SD-SDI outputs can be configured as separate Key & Fill outputs or as CG overlay with video

- 720p50 / 59.94 / 60

• Supported SD video formats:

• Supports video resolutions up to 1080i including PAL & NTSC

- CG subtitles can be created on any computers and delivered to TC-200 via HDMI interface.
