Frequently Asked Questions - RC 242 GAGGENAU

How do I set the temperature in the refrigerator compartment?
Press the temperature-selection button (2) repeatedly until the desired temperature (+3°C to +8°C) appears on the display (4). The set temperature is saved automatically after a few seconds.
What is the cool-fresh compartment and how do I adjust its temperature?
The cool-fresh compartment maintains almost 0°C for optimal freshness of fish, meat, and dairy. To adjust, switch the appliance off, then press and hold buttons 2 and 1 until '88' appears and disappears. Then set the temperature (0°C to +6°C) using button 2. Confirm by waiting 1 minute.
How do I clean the interior of the refrigerator?
Unplug the appliance. Clean all surfaces with lukewarm water and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use abrasive or acidic cleaners. Wipe the door seal with clear water only. Never clean shelves or containers in the dishwasher.
Why is there water on the floor of the refrigerator compartment?
The condensation outlet may be blocked. Clean the condensation channel and drainage hole using a cotton bud or similar. Ensure the stopper is reinserted after cleaning.
How do I replace the interior light bulb?
Unplug the appliance or switch off the fuse. Remove the bulb cover by pulling it towards the rear. Replace the bulb with a 220-240 V a.c., E14 lampholder bulb (wattage as marked on the defective bulb). Then refit the cover.
Which foods should not be stored in the cool-fresh compartment?
Avoid storing tropical fruit, avocados, papayas, passion fruit, aubergines, cucumbers, peppers, green tomatoes, potatoes, and hard cheese. These are less sensitive to cold and are better kept in the main refrigerator compartment.
How can I save energy when using this refrigerator?
Install the appliance in a cool, well-ventilated room away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Allow warm food to cool before storing. Thaw frozen food in the refrigerator to help cool it. Open the door as briefly as possible. Clean the rear of the appliance periodically to prevent increased power consumption.
What should I do if the appliance is not cooling properly?
Check if the appliance is switched on (press On/Off button 1). Ensure the power supply is connected and the fuse has not tripped. Verify that the ventilation openings are not blocked. If the temperature is too cold or too warm, adjust the temperature setting and allow a few hours to stabilize.
How do I remove and clean the humidity filter?
First remove the humidity drawer. Lift the humidity filter (8) and pull it out. Lift off the filter cover, take out the filter, clean it in lukewarm water, let it dry, then reassemble.
What operating noises are normal?
Normal noises include: humming (refrigerating unit running), bubbling/gurgling (refrigerant flowing), and clicking (motor switching on/off). If the appliance is not level or touches adjacent units, it may cause additional noise; adjust the feet or move the appliance accordingly.
