How do I convert from vacuum to blower mode?

To use the blower function, simply disconnect the hose from the vacuum intake port and attach it to the blower port located on the back of the unit. The motor automatically reverses airflow.

How often should I clean the filter?

Clean the cloth filter after each use by using the Auto-Filter Shake feature: press the button on the top of the tank to shake debris loose. For thorough cleaning, tap the filter gently outdoors.

Can I use this vacuum for wet pickup?

No, the Vac 'N Blo VNB-83BA is designed for dry material only. It is not a wet/dry vacuum. Using it for liquids can damage the motor and void the warranty.

What is the maximum particle size it can handle?

The vacuum can handle small debris like dust, dirt, screws, and nails up to approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. Larger objects may clog the hose.

The vacuum seems to lose suction. What should I check?

First, check if the tank is full and empty it. Then inspect the filter for clogs and clean it. Also ensure the hose and attachments are not blocked. If suction is still low, the motor brushes may need replacement.

How long is the power cord?

The power cord is 20 feet (6.1 meters) long, allowing good mobility around a standard room.

Can I replace the filter? Where do I get parts?

Yes, the cloth filter is replaceable. You can purchase genuine MetroVac filters (part number 95142) from the manufacturer's website or authorized dealers. Other accessories like hoses and nozzles are also available.

Is the vacuum safe to use with extension cords?

Yes, but use a grounded extension cord rated for 15 amps minimum and ensure it is fully unwound to prevent overheating. Keep the cord size appropriate for the length (e.g., 12 AWG for longer runs).

What is the warranty period?

The MetroVac Vac 'N Blo VNB-83BA comes with a 5-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty does not cover abuse or normal wear items like filters.

INSTRUCTIONS (Instructions are general for all VNB Models. Some of the below information may not pertain to your specific model. Check list above for parts and accessories that go with your machine):

VACUUM:

• Depress buttons on hose coupling; insert into vacuum front end cap.
• To reach those inaccessible areas, connect the Extension Wands to the hose. Eliminate bending to clean low areas and stretching to reach the high areas.
• Start the vacuum by pushing the On/Off Switch (2 speed) to the left or right depending on speed desired, or turn the knob clockwise to desired strength (variable).
• The Combo Floor/Rug Tool: Attach to the steel chrome extension wands to clean carpeting. Depress pedal for bare floors or carpeting. The swivel action permits proper contact with all surfaces.
• Floor & Wall Brush: Used with extension wands for cleaning walls, hardwood, tile, cement or linoleum surfaces.
• Crevice Tool: Cleans those hard to reach, tight spots.
• Dust Brush: The long, soft bristles gently loosen dust furniture, blinds, moldings, windowsills, etc.
• Crevice Tool: Allows you to clean those hard-to-reach places.
• Pik-All Nozzle: Cleans stairs, upholstery, draperies, and more.

BLOWER:

To use as a blower, release clamps and remove front end cap and cloth bag, but leave foam filter in place. Attached coupling and hose to exhaust end.

TO INFLATE INFLATABLES

To use as an inflator, release clamps and remove front end cap, cloth bag and leave filter in place. Attach hose to exhaust end.

Inflator Adaptor: When inflating air mattresses, boats, rafts, insert hose onto exhaust end. Inflator adapters sold separately.

Filtration includes paper disposable bag, permanent cloth bag, foam filter. To protect your motor, and for maximum efficiency and log life, dispose of the used paper bag. Frequently check the permanent cloth bag for dust/dirt buildup and caking. Shake out the permanent cloth bag frequently. Check and replace the foam filter and filter 3 to 4 times a year.

CAUTION: If your machine has suction but does not clean when the hose is attached, remove the hose from the suction end and place it on the blower end. Blow out the hose, it may be clogged.

Replacing / Cleaning Filter (Filter MVC-56F):

1. Take out the filter from behind the cloth bag and replace it with new or shake out.

a. You can rinse the filter and reuse, BUT IT MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE PUTTING BACK INTO THE MACHINE.

b. Replace it with a new filter after 3 rinses.

1. Put filter back behind cloth bag

Replacing carbon brushes (ABC-3: see additional parts list above; should be changed after about 500 hours of use):

1. Remove front endcap.
2. Find wire going to carbon brush and use flathead screwdriver to loosen tab.
3. Use Philips screwdriver to remove carbon brush mounting bracket.
4. Install tab into new carbon brush and replace mounting bracket.

Air Force Mounting Bracket Instructions (bracket sold separately: AFBR-1 – ONLY THE VNB4AFBR CAN BE MOUNTED):

PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY TO MOUNT THE BRACKET PROPERLY.

TO MOUNT ON WALL

1. Place Air Force Mounting Bracket on the wall where desired with open portion of bracket in upright position.
2. With bracket as template, mark 4 holes where indicated.
3. With a Phillips head screwdriver or "punch" create holes in sheetrock.
4. Attach bracket with 4 self-tapping wood screws and mollies (supplied).
5. After the mounting plate has been secured and tightened, place blower on mounting plate and slide dryer until legs lock into place.
6. When the dryer is locked into place screw into threaded hole on side of the bracket to avoid movement of the dryer as a result of vibration.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE MOUNTING BRACKET IS SECURE AND CAN HANDLE THE WEIGHT AND PULLING THAT MIGHT OCCUR DURING THE NORMAL USAGE OF THIS PRODUCT. METRO WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DRYERS THAT ARE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER BRACKET MOUNTING.

WARRANTY:

This machine carries a Five Year Limited* Warranty.

The Five Year Warranty includes the unit and the motor.*

There is also a One Year Warranty* on Parts, Switches, and Cords.

This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, including installation, with the exceptions stated below:

• *MetroVac will repair or replace any defective or malfunctioning part* at no charge. If the machine is not repairable, it will be replaced.
  • *Mechanical alterations made to the machine will void the warranty.
• *Warranty does not cover carbon brushes, carbon brush wear, filters, or general maintenance.
• *The warranty does not cover physical damage made to the machine from tampering with or attempting to take the appliance apart, improper electrical connections, or water damage.

- To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit into an outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
