A.5 General information on parameterisation

YoucanparameterisethebehaviouroftheCPImodules(e.g. diagnosticbehaviouretc.).Accesstotheparametersdepends ontheCPImasterused:
-CPX-CPinterfaceasCPImaster:parameterisationviathe fieldbusorviathehandheld(CPX-MMI).
-CPVDirectasCPImaster:parameterisationviathefieldbus.
ThebasicsoftheparametersInputdebounce timeandSignal extensionaredescribedinwhatfollows.Furtherinformation onparameterisationcanbefoundintheCPXsystemmanual.
A.5.1 Inputdebouncetime(onlywithCP-ELmodules)
Basics
Inputdebouncingtimesarespecifiedinordertoeliminate interferingchangesofsignaledgeduringswitchingprocedures(bouncingoftheinputsignal).Forexample, mechanicalswitchesgeneratebriefundesiredsignaledgesduring switchingprocedures.Thesignalstateswhicharethereby producedcancauseinterferenceinthecontrolsequenceand shouldthereforefrequently besuppressed.
Interfering, undesiredsignaledgescanbesuppressedbya PLCprograminthehigher-ordercontroller.Interferencecan thereforebeavoided.WiththeCPIsystem, undesiredsignal edgescanbesuppressedsimplybyparameterisation.
ParameterisationintheCPIsystem
With the CPI system, the input debouncing time can be set with an appropriate module parameter. The possible input debouncing times therefore depend on the particular type of module. Typical input debouncing times are: 0.1 ms, 3ms (typical presetting), 10ms and 20ms.

A.5.2 Signaextension(onlywithCP-ELmodules)
Basics
Signalextensiontimesarespecifiedwhenveryshortsignals aretobetakenintoaccountinthecontrolprocess.Short signalscanoccur,e.g.whenanintermediatepositionisex-ceededandevaluationisnecessaryinordertoproducea time-optimisedconsequentprocessbeforeanendpositionis reached.
Dependingonthetypeof sensor,thelengthofthesignal, whichisgeneratedwhentheintermediatepositionisexceeded,canfluctuateaccordingtothepositioningspeed. Thereisadangerherethattheshortsignalsarenotalways “recognised”duetolongcycletimesofthehigher-ordercontroller.
WiththeCPIsystem, asignalextension timecanbedefined byparameterisationoftheappropriateinputsignal.Short signalswillthenalsoberecognisedreliablybythehigher-ordercontroller.
ParameterisationintheCPIsystem
With the CPI system, the signalextension time for the module is set with the appropriate module parameter. The possible signalextension times depend on the type of module. Typical signalextension times are: 0.5 ms (typical presetting), 15 ms, 50 ms and 100 ms.
Theusermustparameterisethesignalextensiontimefor activation.
Methodofoperation
Signalstatesacceptedaslogicalinputsignalsusuallyremain validatleastuntilthespecifiedminimumsignaldurationhas expired.Changeofedgewithinthemimumsignalduration areignored(see Fig. A/2).Fixeddebouncingtimesremain effective.
