2. Safety Information
For Household Use Only
When using the vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions to recharge, should always be observed, including the following:

WARNING: Do not use outdoors.

Do not charge the unit outdoors.

Turn off the vacuum cleaner control before or connecting or disconnecting from the mains supply.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons the (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by for person responsible for their safety.

Use only as described in this manual. Use only the manufacturer's recommended attachments.

Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not working, as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a Vax Authorised Service Agent or suitably qualified person for examination, repair or adjustment.

Do not abuse the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surface. Do not pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not close the cord in a door.

Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.

This product contains rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries. Do not throw batteries into fire or expose them to high temperatures, as they may burst.

Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.

Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.

Do not pick up hot coals, cigarette butts, matches or anything hot, smoking or burning objects.
-
Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, petrol, kerosene, etc) or use in the presence of explosive liquids or vapour.
-
Do not vacuum up harmful or toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc).
-
Do not use without the filter in place.
-
Do not vacuum up hard or sharp objects such as glass, mails, screws, coins, etc.
-
Turn off all controls before unplugging.
-
Take extra care when cleaning on stairs
- Store the appliance indoors in a cool, dry area.
- Use only the charge supplied by the manufacturer
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the hand vac from the electrical outlet before assembling, opening or emptying the dirt container, or before connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
IMPORTANT: Washing filters improves the hand vac performance. Make sure all the filters are completely dry before inserting back into the hand vac.

3. How to Operate
Unscrew the cap from the back of the clean solution tank (Fig.3/4).
Grasp solution tank handle and press the clean solution tank latch (Fig.3/1).

IMPORTANT: Do not overwork any area of carpet, as this may damage carpet fibres. 4. Emptying & cleaning the dirty

You should empty the tank when the dirty water in the tank reaches the 'Full' line on the dirty water tank, or, when the float shuts off airflow, this will be indicated by a change in the pitch of the motor and reduced suction. Finally, you should also empty the dirty water tank after use and rinse clean, before storage.
With one hand hold the cleaner by the handle, with the other grasp the sides of the dirty water tanks and push the latch to release (Fig.4/1).

Rinse the dirty water tank with warm (max 40°C) tap water.
Dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mildew from forming (Fig.4/5).

Check the filter located on top of the dirty water tank periodically and clean by rinsing with water when dirty (Fig.4/6).
NOTE: Make sure to replace the filter after cleaning.

Returning the dirty water tank to the base of the cleaner
Grasp the handle and hook the front of the dirty water tank securely into the base of the cleaner (Fig.4/7).
The dirty water tank has 2 tabs on the underside, which MUST latch into the underside of the base of the cleaner.

6. Troubleshooting
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, unplug the vacuum cleaner before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.
PROBLEM: Cleaner won't run
Cause: Power cord not firmly pushed into a mains socket.
Solution: Plug cord in firmly.
Cause: Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
Solution: Check fuse/breaker. Replace fuse or reset breaker.
Cause: Needs service.
Solution: Call Vax Care 0870 606 1248.
PROBLEM: Hand Vac won't pick up/loss of suction.
Cause: Dirty water tank is not installed correctly.
Solution: Review dirty water tank removal and replacement.
Cause: Dirty water tank is full.
Solution: Empty the dirty water tank.
PROBLEM: Water escaping from the Cleaner
Cause: Dirty water tank is full.
Solution: Empty the dirty water tank.
Cause: Dirty water tank is not installed correctly.
Solution: Review dirty water tank removal and replacement.
Cause: Solution tank not installed correctly.
Solution: Review solution tank installation.
PROBLEM: Cleaner won't dispense
Cause: Spray nozzle clogged
Solution: Clean thoroughly.
Cause: Solution tank not installed properly
Solution: Review solution tank installation.
