Frequently Asked Questions - CFC-610 Auray

What types of boom poles is the CFC-610 cable compatible with?
The CFC-610 replacement cable is designed for Auray CFP series carbon fiber boom poles with either bottom exit XLR or side exit XLR configurations.
Does the cable include the necessary connectors?
Yes, the cable comes with a Neutrik® right-angle XLR connector on one end and a Rean® TA3 (mini XLR) connector on the other. Both provide secure locking connections.
What tools are required to install the replacement cable?
You will need the included hex key for the tip set screw and a small slotted screwdriver (not included) to release the TA3 connector’s locking tab.
Is the installation process solder-free?
Yes, the cable features a solderless design. The TA3 connector plugs directly into the mount and locks with a click. No soldering is required.
How do I route the new cable through the boom pole?
Insert the cable from the top of the pole and snake it through. If it doesn’t slide easily, use the included nylon line: tie it to the TA3 connector, drop it through from the top, and pull from the bottom. Remove the line before finishing.
What is the warranty period for the CFC-610?
The CFC-610 comes with a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Can I use a wire cutter to remove the old cable?
An alternative method is to snip the old cable near the TA3 connector, but this makes the cable unusable. Only do this if you do not plan to reuse it.
How does the strain relief system work?
The cable includes a strain relief that absorbs tension at the tip exit and near the TA3 connector. It protects the cable from damage during use.
What should I do if the TA3 connector doesn’t click into place?
Ensure the connector is properly aligned. Do not force it. Check for obstructions or misalignment; if it still doesn’t click, the connector may be damaged.
Can I use this cable with non-Auray boom poles?
The cable is specifically designed for Auray CFP series poles. It may not fit other brands or models due to different connector housings and thread sizes.

Introduction

Thank you for choosing Auray.

The Auray CFC replacement kit provides a replacement cable for the Auray CFP carbon fiber boom pole. Auray's solderless design provides a fast and easy solution for cable replacement.

The high-quality coiled cable features a right-angle XLR connector manufactured by Neutrik ^® , and a TA3 (mini XLR) connector manufactured by Rean ^® (a registered trademark of Neutrik ^® ) for secure locking connections and flawless signal transfer. This cable also features Auray's unique strain relief system that absorbs tension and protects the cable from damage at the edge of the tip exit and at the T3 connector. The included hex key and a small slotted screwdriver (not included) are the only tools needed for this cable replacement procedure that will assure long-lasting and trouble-free operation of your CFP boom pole.

Replacing the Cable - Boom Pole with Bottom Exit XLR

Remove the old cable

  1. Use the hex key to loosen the set screw on the tip. 1
  2. Remove the tip by unscrewing it. 2
  3. Lift the cable and strain relief out of the tip exit slot. 3

Tip: Before proceeding, push a small length of cable into the tube from the tip of the pole. This will give you enough slack to complete the following steps.

  1. Unscrew the bottom housing from the base of the boom pole. 4
  2. Unscrew the plastic TA3 strain relief. 5
  3. Disconnect the TA3 connector by pressing on the locking tab and gently removing the connector from the mount.

Note: The TA3 connector should easily disconnect. Do not force or pull on the cable to disconnect it. Doing so could damage the housing or the connector.

  1. Use a small slotted screwdriver to reach inside the strain relief and depress the locking tab of the TA3 connector. 6 With the locking tab depressed, you can slide the strain relief over the TA3 connector and off of the cable. Set the strain relief piece aside.

Make sure to remove the line before continuing.

  1. Fit the narrow side of the strain relief over the TA3 connector, and push it past the TA3 connector's locking tab. 4
