Frequently Asked Questions - SL3sat-T VAIS Technology

What vehicles is the SL3sat-T compatible with?
The SL3sat-T is designed for select Toyota, Lexus, and Scion models from 2001 to 2013. Check the included application guide for specific model years and audio system types.
Do I need a SiriusXM tuner to use this device?
Yes, the SL3sat-T requires an external SiriusXM tuner, model SXV300 (sold separately). It does not have a built-in satellite radio receiver.
How do I set the emulation mode?
The unit has two programming switches. For SAT emulation, set the left switch DOWN, turn ignition to ACC, wait for beeps, then return both switches UP. For CD or MD changer emulation, use different switch positions as described in the manual.
Can I control SiriusXM from the steering wheel?
Yes, the SL3sat-T integrates with the factory steering wheel controls. Use the MODE button to cycle through sources and other controls for channel selection and preset recall.
Why is no text displayed on my radio?
Text display requires proper emulation mode and a radio that supports CD-TEXT or MD-TEXT. Also ensure the correct display mode is selected in the settings. Some radios may not show text if the DISC number is invisible.
How do I store presets?
In SAT emulation, select a channel and press and hold a preset button until you hear a beep. In CD/MD emulation, press the RPT button four times quickly within 1-2 seconds to store the current channel.
What do error messages like ANTENNA or NO SIGNAL mean?
ANTENNA indicates the SiriusXM antenna is not connected or faulty. NO SIGNAL means the tuner cannot acquire a satellite signal; check antenna placement. TUNER ERR means the SXV300 tuner is not connected or not responding.
How do I adjust the satellite radio volume level?
Enter the Satellite Radio Input Settings mode (press SCAN 8 times), select a satellite channel, activate SCAN, then use SCROLL UP/DOWN to adjust level (01-31 displayed as seconds). Deactivate SCAN and exit settings.
Can I install this unit myself?
Installation requires disconnecting the battery and accessing the back of the factory radio. VAIS recommends professional installation to avoid damage. The product warranty may be voided if improperly installed.
What is the warranty coverage?
The SL3sat-T comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover damage from improper installation, misuse, or modifications. Contact VAIS support for service.
