How do I set up the Sony NSZ-GU1?

Plug the stick into an HDMI port on your TV, then connect the micro-USB power cable to a USB port on the TV or the included power adapter. Follow on-screen instructions to connect to Wi-Fi and sign in to your Google account.

Can I use the NSZ-GU1 without a remote?

The device is designed to work with the included remote. However, you can use the Google TV app on your smartphone as an alternative remote if needed.

What video resolutions does it support?

How do I update the software?

Go to Settings > About > System update. The device will check for updates automatically. Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

Can I install third-party apps?

Yes, you can install apps from the Google Play Store. Side-loading is possible but not officially supported.

Why is my remote not working?

First, check the batteries. If using IR mode, ensure there's a clear line of sight. For RF pairing, press the pairing button under the battery cover. Reset by removing batteries for 30 seconds.

Does it support Bluetooth headphones?

Yes, it supports Bluetooth audio devices. Go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories > Pair accessory.

How do I factory reset the device?

Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Factory reset. Alternatively, press and hold the reboot button (small pinhole) on the stick for 10 seconds.

Can I use it on a monitor without speakers?

Yes, but audio will only come through the HDMI connection. If your monitor has no speakers, you may need external speakers or use Bluetooth audio.

Is the device still supported?

Sony has discontinued support for this model. It may not receive the latest Android updates or app compatibility. Consider upgrading to a newer device.

Precautions

On placement

- Place the player in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent heat build-up in the player.

- Do not place the player in a location near heat sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical shock.

- If the player is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, or is placed in a very damp room, moisture may form on the outer surface and on interior of the player.

On adjusting volume

Do not turn up the volume while listening to a section with very low level inputs or no audio signals. If you do, your ears and the speakers may be damaged when a peak level section is played.

On cleaning

Clean the cabinet, panel, and controls with a soft cloth. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder or solvent such as alcohol or benzine.

On replacement of parts

In the events that this player is repaired, repaired parts may be collected for reuse or recycling purposes.

Since communication via the wireless LAN function is established by radio waves, the wireless signal may be susceptible to interception. To protect wireless communication, this player supports various security functions. Be sure to correctly configure the security settings in accordance with your network environment.

- No Security

Although you can easily make settings, anyone can intercept wireless communication or intrude into your wireless network, even without any sophisticated tools. Keep in mind that there is a risk of unauthorized access or interception of data.

• WEP

WEP applies security to communications to prevent outsiders from intercepting communications or intruding into your wireless network. WEP is a legacy security technology that enables older devices, which do not support TKIP/AES, to be connected.
