Before Use

Select your preferred weight mode (lb or kg) using the Weight Mode Switch.

Place your Tanita Solar Scale on a flat, hard surface with direct exposure to natural or artificial lighting. Tap the Reset Switch located on the lower right-hand edge of the measuring platform so that "0.0" appears on the LCD display. If the light source is too dim no reading or a "Lo" message may appear, and you will need to move the scale to a brighter location.

Placing scale

The scale should be used on a hard even surface for accurate weighing.

Not recommended for use on carpeted surfaces.

Instructions for Use

When using the scale for the first time, or after it has been moved, tap the Reset Switch with your toe so that "0.0" shows on the display (Fig. 1). Just step on the scale to measure your weight.

1. If the display shows other than "0.0," make sure the scale is exposed to a sufficient light source and tan the Reset Switch.

2. Step on the scale. The display shows body weight (Fig.2).

3. Step off the scale. The display returns to "0.0" (Fig.3).

Note: "OL" will appear on the display when the scale's weight capacity is exceeded. Avoid blocking light source when stepping onto scale.

Precautions

To recalibrate the scale, gently tap the Reset Switch with your toe (see Fig. 4). Do not place your hand on the scale while recalibrating (see Fig. 5); if you do, "-0.5" or "-1.0" will be displayed. Using your toe, tap the Reset Switch again to display "0.0."

Care and Maintenance

- Place the scale in an area free from heating equipment, high humidity, or extreme

temperature changes.

- Never submerge the scale in water or spill chemical liquids on it. To clean, use a dampened cloth and mild detergent.

- Avoid excessive impact or vibration to the unit.
