Frequently Asked Questions - HL58 HAMA

What types of pouches can I use with the Hama HL58?
You can use standard A4 or smaller laminating pouches up to 125 microns thickness. For cold lamination, use self-adhesive pouches or pouches designed for cold mode.
How do I clean the laminator rollers?
Unplug the device and let it cool. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the rollers. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects. For sticky residue, a mild detergent can be used.
What should I do if the laminator jams?
Turn off and unplug the laminator. Gently pull the jammed pouch out. If stuck, use the reverse function (if available) or carefully loosen with a plastic tool. Always avoid metal objects.
Can I laminate photos?
Yes, but ensure photos are completely dry and use photo-safe pouches. For delicate photos, use cold lamination to avoid heat damage.
Why is the laminator not heating up?
Check that the power switch is on and the temperature setting is correct. Ensure the power cord is plugged in. If the device has been running for a while, it may have auto shut-off; turn it off and on again.
What does the cold lamination feature do?
Cold lamination uses pressure and self-adhesive pouches without heat. It is ideal for heat-sensitive documents like photos, tickets, or plastic cards.
How long does it take to warm up?
The warm-up time is typically 3 to 5 minutes. The ready indicator light will turn on when the laminator reaches the operating temperature.
Is there a standby mode?
Yes, the laminator has an auto shut-off feature that activates after 30 minutes of inactivity to save energy and ensure safety.
What is the maximum document thickness?
The laminator accepts documents up to 0.5 mm thick (including pouch). For thicker items, use cold lamination or multiple passes.
How do I store the laminator?
After use, unplug and allow to cool. Store in a dry, dust-free place. Cover the entry slot to prevent dust accumulation. Avoid extreme temperatures.
