Frequently Asked Questions - EM7455 LENOVO

How do I install the EM7455 wireless WAN adapter?
First, ensure your ThinkPad supports M.2 WAN cards. Power off and disconnect all cables. Ground yourself to avoid ESD. Insert the SIM card if not already present. Carefully insert the EM7455 into the M.2 slot at a 30-degree angle, then press down and secure with the screw. Attach antenna cables (if any) and reassemble your laptop. Refer to your ThinkPad user guide for exact steps.
Which drivers do I need for Windows 10?
Download the latest driver from Lenovo Support at http://www.lenovo.com/support or use Lenovo Companion (search for it, then go to SYSTEM UPDATE > Check for new updates, select the EM7455 driver, and install).
The computer does not recognize the adapter. What should I do?
Reset the UEFI/BIOS to defaults: Turn on the computer, press F1 at the ThinkPad logo, press F9 to load default configuration, select Yes, then press F10 to save and exit. This often resolves recognition issues.
Do I need a SIM card to use this adapter?
Yes, a subscriber identification module (SIM) card is required for mobile broadband connections. Insert it into the SIM slot on your ThinkPad before installation.
Can I use the EM7455 with Windows 7?
Yes, Windows 7 is supported. Install the driver via Lenovo Support or System Update, then launch Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation (LMBA) to activate the adapter. You'll need an account with a mobile broadband service provider.
What should I do if the adapter is not working after installation?
Check that the driver is installed correctly. Ensure the SIM card is properly inserted and activated. Use the ThinkVantage Access Connections program (Windows 7) or Windows network settings to confirm the connection. If problems persist, try resetting the BIOS as described in the manual.
How do I activate the mobile broadband service?
On Windows 7, use the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation (LMBA) program. For Windows 8/10, establish a connection through Windows network settings. You need an active data plan from a mobile carrier. Follow the carrier's activation instructions.
Is the adapter compatible with Linux or macOS?
The official manual only covers Windows operating systems. However, the EM7455 uses standard Qualcomm chips and may have community drivers for Linux. For macOS, compatibility is unlikely. Check manufacturer support for non-Windows OS.
What is the warranty coverage for this adapter?
The EM7455 comes with a 1-year Lenovo Limited Warranty. If installed in a Lenovo computer, the adapter may inherit the computer's longer warranty (up to 3 years). The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship but does not cover damage from misuse or alterations.
Can I return or exchange the adapter if it fails?
During the warranty period, contact Lenovo support or an authorized service provider. Depending on the warranty type (CRU, on-site, depot, etc.), you may receive a replacement. Follow the steps in the manual under 'How to Obtain Warranty Service'. Keep your proof of purchase.
