Frequently Asked Questions - Meridian 51084-91 Livex Lighting

How do I install the Meridian 51084-91 lighting fixture?
First, turn off power at the circuit breaker. Remove old fixture. Attach mounting plate to junction box. Connect wires: black to black (hot), white to white (neutral), ground to green or bare copper. Assemble the shade assembly onto the canopy, then mount to the junction box and secure with ball nuts. Install bulb (not included) and restore power.
What type of bulb does this fixture use?
It uses a standard medium base (E26) bulb. Accepts incandescent, LED, CFL, or halogen bulbs with compatible wattage.
What is the maximum wattage for the bulb?
The maximum recommended wattage is 60 watts for incandescent bulbs, or equivalent LED wattage (typically 9-12W for similar brightness). Do not exceed this limit.
Can I use LED bulbs in this fixture?
Yes, you can use LED bulbs with an E26 base. Ensure the LED bulb's wattage is within the fixture's maximum rating and that it is compatible with any dimmer if you plan to use dimming.
Is the Meridian 51084-91 dimmable?
The fixture itself is dimmable when used with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. Standard incandescent bulbs are typically dimmable, but for LEDs, ensure they are labeled as dimmable.
How should I clean the lighting fixture?
Clean with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or liquids. For glass parts, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure the fixture is completely dry before restoring power.
What should I do if the light flickers after installation?
Flickering can be caused by loose wire connections, incompatible bulbs, or a faulty dimmer. First, check wire connections at the junction box and bulb socket. Ensure the bulb is fully screwed in. If using a dimmer, verify compatibility with the bulb type.
Is this fixture suitable for damp locations like a bathroom?
No, the Meridian 51084-91 is designed for indoor dry locations only. It is not rated for damp or wet environments such as bathrooms, covered patios, or outdoors.
Does the Livex Meridian 51084-91 come with a warranty?
Yes, Livex Lighting offers a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Contact customer service at 800-761-8056 or visit their website for details.
Can I adjust the height of the fixture?
The fixture has a fixed height. The overall height is approximately 12 inches. It is not adjustable. For different ceiling heights, consider using a different model or a pendant with an adjustable cord.

ASSEMBLING THE FIXTURE (Fig.1)

  1. Shut off the power at the circuit breaker box. Remove old fixture and all hardware from Junction Box.
  2. Carefully unpack your new fixture and lay out all the parts on a clear area. Take care not to lose any small parts necessary for installation.
  3. Thread the two mounting screws about 1/4" into the pre-drilled holes in the mounting plate spaced the same distance apart as the holes in the canopy (I).
  4. Attach the mounting plate to the Junction Box with the two Junction Box Screws as shown. The side of the mounting plate marked "GND" must face out. The junction box is not included.
  5. Attach the tube(B) to the bottom center pipe nipple of the canopy(I), turn it until tighten. Attach assembly canopy to the top center pipe nipple of the shade (C), by turning it clockwise until tight.
  6. Thread the pipe nipple (D) into the bottom center coupling of the lamp holder and lock it securely with the hex nut.
  7. Install the light bulbs in accordance with the fixture specifications. NOTE: DO NOT EXCEED THE SPECIFIED WATTAGE!
  8. Raise the steel shim (E), glass (F) and plastic shim (G) to the bottom of the shade (C), aligning the hole with pipe nipple and screw it with the finial (H).
  9. While holding the shade assembly towards the ceiling, connect the electrical wires as shown in Fig.2, making sure that all wire nuts are secured. You may have to wrap the connections with electrical tape. If your outlet has a ground wire (green or bare copper), connect the fixture ground wire to it. Otherwise connect fixture's ground wire directly to the mounting plate with the green screw provided. After wires are connected, tuck them carefully inside the junction box.
  10. Raise the shade assembly onto the junction box, aligning screws on mounting plate with mounting holes in canopy (I) and lock it securely with the ball nut (A).

Your installation is now complete. Return power to the junction box and test the fixture.
