How should I mount the T5Xi 3-15x50 scope?

Use high-quality 34 mm rings and bases. Ensure the firearm is unloaded before mounting. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for ring and base installation. Steiner recommends a 45 MOA canted base for this model.

How do I focus the eyepiece for my eye?

Loosen the diopter locking ring by turning it counter-clockwise. Point the scope at the sky or a plain wall and take quick glances through the scope while rotating the focus ring until the reticle appears sharp and black. Then tighten the locking ring clockwise without over-tightening.

How do I adjust windage and elevation?

Turn the windage turret (right side) for horizontal adjustment and elevation turret (top) for vertical adjustment. Each click equals 0.1 mRAD (1 cm @ 100 m). The elevation turret has 34 mils of total adjustment range with a revolution indicator to prevent getting lost on the dial.

How do I set the zero stop?

After zeroing at your desired distance, use the 2 mm hex wrench to loosen the two set screws below the top of the knob by half a turn. Turn the knob to zero, tighten the set screws, then repeat for the windage knob. If the desired zero is below the zero stop location, follow the alternative procedure in the manual.

Can I replace the turret cap without losing zero?

Yes. Note the indicator location on the cap, loosen the two Allen-head set screws, remove the cap, replace with a new one aligning the indicator the same way, tighten the set screws, and reconfirm your zero.

How do I adjust parallax?

Rotate the parallax knob on the left side of the adjustment turret until the number corresponding to the target distance lines up with the reference mark. If the distance is unknown, adjust until the target image is sharply focused. When set correctly, moving your eye side-to-side should not cause the reticle to move relative to the target.

How do I use the illuminated reticle and disable auto-off?

Turn the rotary illumination knob on the left side of the turret. Positions 8-11 are for daylight, 1-7 for nighttime, and 1-4 for use with night vision devices. The auto-off function turns off after 3 hours. To disable, turn to setting #6 for 8 seconds, off for 2, then #5 for 8, off for 2, then back to #6 for 8; the light blinks twice. To reactivate, repeat; light blinks once.

How do I replace the battery?

Unscrew the battery cap cover on the rotary switch. Install a new CR2450 lithium battery with the flat side (+) up. For long-term storage (over a month), remove the battery.

How should I clean the lenses?

First remove coarse dirt with a soft brush or by blowing. For heavy dirt like dried mud, use clean water or lens cleaning fluid. Then gently clean with a lens cloth. Avoid rubbing grit into the lens to prevent damage to coatings. The scope is fully waterproof and fogproof.

INTRODUCTION

This manual outlines the basic operation and maintenance of the scope.

MOUNTING THE SCOPE

Quality components ensure that your scope will remain safely and securely mounted, while providing maximum accuracy. The 1-5x24mm model requires 30mm rings. The larger tubes on the 3-15x50mm and 5-25x56mm require 34mm rings. Steiner recommends using high-quality rings and bases.

Read the manufacturer's directions regarding the installation of mounts and rings.

WARNING! Make sure your firearm is unloaded before attempting to mount the scope on your firearm. Practice safe firearms handling at all times.

EYEPIECE FOCUSING

The eyepiece can be focused so that the reticle appears sharp and black to your eyes. Adjusting the focus is quick and easy to do. The T5Xi riflescopes feature a diopter locking ring that ensures it cannot be moved once the reticle is focused for your eye. To adjust the eyepiece, follow this procedure:

1. Loosen the diopter locking ring by turning it counter-clockwise.
2. With the locking ring loosened, the diopter can be easily adjusted.
3. Point the scope at the sky or a plain wall and take a quick glance through the scope. If the reticle appears sharp and black, no further adjustment is necessary.
4. If the reticle is not clear, use quick glances through the scope while rotating the focus ring until the reticle is sharp and black.
5. When the reticle is focused for your eye, tighten the locking ring by turning clockwise. Do not over tighten.

NOTE: Do not look through the eyepiece as you turn the focus ring. Your eyes will adjust to the out-of-focus condition.

WINDAGE / ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT

The windage and elevation knobs are designed for precise adjustment. The dials are calibrated so that 1 click = 1 cm @ 100 meters or .1 mRAD. The windage turret is located on the right side of the tube and the elevation turret is on the top. Adjustments are indicated by detents and audible clicks.

For elevation adjustment, the 1-5x24mm has +_15 mils for windage and elevation.

The T5Xi 3-15x50mm and 5-25x56mm offer precision accuracy at extreme ranges. The 3-15x50mm offers 34 mils of elevation adjustment and the 5-25x56mm offers 26 mils.

On these scopes, each mil of elevation is shown through the indication window on the elevation turret. After the first revolution of 120 clicks, the mil numbers on the scale change automatically preventing the shooter from getting lost on the dial.

This riflescope is shipped from the factory with the optical center (knob at '0' position) set below center. Without tapered bases the initial sight-in or bore-sighting will likely produce an initial point of impact considerably high. For best results, Steiner recommends a 45 MOA canted base for the 3-15x and 5-25x models.

Because of the Turret Stop feature, as shipped from the factory the riflescope has no extended capability for downward point of impact adjustment. However, there are .3 mils of adjustment past Turret Stop for slight downward adjustment.

Setting the Zero Stop

1. Zero your scope at the desired distance.
2. Using the 2mm hex wrench supplied with your scope loosen the two set screws located just below the top of the knob one-half turn only.
3. Turn the knob to zero.
4. Tighten the two set screws on the knob.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the windage knob.

If the Desired Zero is Below the Zero Stop Location

1. Use the hex wrench supplied with the scope to loosen the set screws on the elevation adjustment knob located just under the top of the knob.
2. Turn the knob in the direction of UP as indicated on your elevation knob slightly more than the number of mils needed to achieve zero. The knob should free spin without any click engagement.
3. Retighten the set screws. Adjust the elevation down the required amount.
4. Once you have zeroed and the elevation adjustment is complete, once again loosen the two set screws and reset the knob to "O".

TURRET CAP REPLACEMENT

The windage and elevation turret caps on the T5Xi 3x-15x and 5x-25x scope can be replaced without the need to re-zero in most cases. To replace the turret cap simply note the location of the indicator in relation to the turret cap. Loosen the two Allen-head set screws and remove the turret cap from the turret by pulling up on the cap. Replace the turret cap and align the indicator in the same location as the original cap. Tighten the two Allen-head set screws, then reconfirm your zero.

PARALLAX/FOCUS ADJUSTMENT

Parallax is the apparent movement of the reticle in relation to the target when the eye is not directly in line behind the center of the scope. Images from different distances focus in front of or behind the scope's reticle. Parallax is more noticeable with higher magnification scopes and scopes with a larger objective lens.

To use the parallax/focus adjustment, rotate the knob on the left side of the adjustment turret until the numeral corresponding to the known target distance lines up with the reference mark. If the distance is unknown, rotate the adjustment knob until the target image is sharply focused.

When the scope is set parallax free for the distance you are viewing, you should be able to move your eye side-to-side or up and down without seeing the reticle move appreciably in relation to the target.

Illuminated Reticle Adjustment

The T5Xi tactical scopes feature an illuminated reticle that make it easier to see the reticle in low light conditions. The rotary illumination switch located on the left side of the adjustment turret controls the intensity of the illumination.

3-15x50 mm/5-25x56mm

The switch has 11 intensity levels and a “battery saver” position in between each level that turns off the illumination completely to prevent battery drain. Each level also has a detent to prevent unintended changes during use.

• Positions 8-11 are for daylight operations.
• Positions 1-7 are used during nighttime operations.
• Positions 1-4 are suitable when utilizing night vision devices.

The reticle has an "Auto Off" function that turns off the illumination after 3 hours.

Disabling the "Auto Off" Function

For extended use or observation, the Auto Off can be disabled by following these instructions:

1. Turn the illumination knob to Setting #6 and hold for 8 seconds.
2. Turn to Off for 2 seconds.
3. Turn to Setting #5 for 8 seconds.
4. Turn to Off for 2 seconds.
5. Turn back to Setting # 6 for 8 seconds.

The light will blink twice to indicate the "Auto Off" function has been disabled. To turn "Auto Off" back on, just repeat the steps above. The light will blink once to indicate the function has been reactivated.

Replacing the Battery

The reticle is powered by a 3-volt lithium cell battery #CR2450. To install a new battery, simply unscrew the battery cap cover on the rotary switch and install the new battery flat side (+) up. It is advisable to remove the battery for long-term storage (over a month).

Flip-Up Lens Covers

The objectives and eye pieces on all three T5Xi scopes are designed to accommodate Tenebrae® flip-up lens covers. Installation is quick and easy. Just snap them on over the knurled rings.

Sunshades

The 3-15x and 5-25x come with sunshades to reduce glare on the objective lenses. To install, align the threads on the sunshade and objective bell housing and turn the sunshade clockwise until snug.

Throw Lever

The machined aluminum throw lever is designed to work on all T5Xi scopes. The lever clamps over the magnification ring and provides extra leverage for fast, precise changes to the magnification setting. To install, place the lever over the magnification power ring and secure with the two hex screws.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Your Steiner T5Xi is fully waterproof and fogproof. To protect the objective and ocular lenses, it comes equipped with flip-up scope caps. In the event that the lenses are subjected to dust, dirt or mud, follow these steps to clean and protect the lens surface.

CAUTION - Remove all foreign material from the lens before cleaning with cloth to prevent damage to the lens.

Failure to remove grit before final cleaning is sure to damage lens coatings. Coarse dirt/debris must be removed from the lens surface. Position the scope so particles will fall away from the lens, and then use a soft brush to gently whisk away the debris, while blowing on the lens to dislodge the particles.

For heavy dirt, like dried mud, use a spray of clean water or lens cleaning fluid to remove the dirt. Your T5Xi riflescope will provide a reliable performance given reasonable care and treatment.

All moving assemblies are permanently lubricated. Only occasional cleaning of the outside of the scope and the exterior lenses is required.
