Frequently Asked Questions - PAC 122 W Equator

How do I install the exhaust hoses?
Attach the hose connector to one end of the hose, and the window kit adapter to the other end. Extend the adjustable window kit to fit your window, connect the hose, and close the window to secure it. Repeat for the second hose. Avoid bending the hoses and seal any gaps for maximum efficiency.
What does error code 'Ft' mean?
'Ft' indicates that the water tank is full. Turn off the unit, unplug it, and drain the water by removing the lower drain plug. After draining, replace the plug securely.
Can I use an extension cord?
No, do not use an extension cord or adapter plug. Plug the unit directly into a grounded wall outlet of the correct voltage (115V). Using an extension cord may cause a fire hazard or damage the unit.
How do I clean the air filter?
Disconnect the appliance from power. Remove the air filter from the back panel and clean it with a vacuum or rinse with water (let it dry completely before reinstalling). Do not use chemicals or abrasive materials. Replace the HEPA filter as needed.
Why is the unit not cooling?
Check if the desired mode is set to 'Cool' and the temperature is lower than the room temperature. Ensure the air filter and exhaust hose are not blocked, doors and windows are closed, and the water tank is not full. Also verify that the room temperature is within the operating range (41-95°F).
How do I drain water when using dehumidifier mode?
For continuous draining, connect the provided drain hose to the upper drain outlet and place the other end into a bucket. For manual draining, remove the lower drain plug and tilt the unit slightly backwards (up to 20°) to let water flow out. Ensure the hose is not kinked.
What is the 3-minute delay after power loss?
The unit has overload protection that delays the compressor restart for 3 minutes after a power interruption. This protects the compressor from damage. Wait a few minutes after plugging in or turning on.
How do I store the unit when not in use?
Unplug the unit, remove hoses and window kit, and drain any water. Dry the unit completely by leaving it in a dry area or running it in 'Air' mode for a few hours. Store upright in a dry indoor space.
What is the warranty period?
Equator Appliances provides a 1-year warranty from the original purchase date for defects in workmanship or materials under normal use in the USA and Canada. Keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Can I replace the HEPA filter?
Yes, the HEPA filter is replaceable and sold separately. It should be replaced as needed to maintain air quality. To replace, remove the old filter and insert a new one. Always disconnect power before servicing.

20 inches space around unit

Place the unit on a firm, level surface in an area with at least 20 inches (50 cm) of free space around it to allow for proper air circulation.

If tipped more than 45^ , allow the unit to stand upright for at least 24 hours before starting it. It allows compressor to stabilize.

Ensure the unit is not operated in close proximity to walls, curtains, or other objects that may block air inlet and outlet. Keep the air inlet and outlet free of obstacles.

Ensure the unit is not immersed or exposed to rain, moisture or any other liquid.

Never install the unit where it could be affected by:

  • Heat sources such as radiators, stoves or other products that produce heat.
  • Direct sunlight
    • Mechanical vibration or shock
  • Excessive dust
  • Lack of ventilation, such as cabinets or bookcases
  • Uneven surfaces

Installation

Attaching the Hoses

This is an advanced portable AC where there are 2 hoses: The Right Hose brings fresh air into the unit. The Left Hose blows hot exhaust air to the outdoors.

Do not replace or extend the hoses which will result in decreased efficiency, or even worse shut down the unit due to low back pressure.

Follow these steps to install both hoses:

Step 1: Connect the hose connector to one end of the hose.

For continuous draining, while the unit is operating as a Dehumidifier:

  • Securely connect the drain hose provided to the unit at the Upper Drain Outlet. Place the other end of the drain hose into a drain pan or bucket.

If not continuously drained, the unit will need to be drained manually.

Note: When the water collection tank in the unit gets full, it will stop working and an error code of “Ft” will be displayed on the Control Panel.

  • Turn off the appliance and unplug it.

Note: When draining the Dehumidifier

  • Ensure that the water flows freely and the hose is straight and not kinked, bent or obstructed in any way.
  • Use only the drain hose that is provided, as another one may not fit properly over the opening.
  • Ensure that the end of the hose is not submerged in the collected water, otherwise it can cause an air lock in the hose.

Maintenance

Do not clean the appliance with any chemicals or abrasive materials.

The unit is equipped with a HEPA filter which should be replaced as needed. HEPA filters are sold separately.
