Frequently Asked Questions - ECF15MDCW Element

How do I adjust the temperature on my Element ECF15MDCW freezer?
Turn the temperature control dial located on the front-bottom side. Turn clockwise for colder, counterclockwise for warmer. For normal use, set to the middle of the FREEZER range. If cooling is inadequate, turn toward the end of FREEZER. If too cold, turn toward REFRIGERATOR. Wait at least 1 hour after adjustment to stabilize.
What should I do during a power failure?
Minimize opening the door to keep cold air inside. Do not add new items. If the outage is prolonged, place ice in the freezer to help maintain temperature. Once power returns, check food condition; do not refreeze thawed items.
How often should I defrost the freezer and how?
Defrost when ice reaches about 4mm thickness, typically 2-3 times a year. Set thermostat to MAX/8 for 12 hours before, then unplug, remove food, and leave door open. Never use mechanical devices or heaters to speed defrosting. Afterward, clean and dry interior, then restart on MAX/8 for 1 hour before replacing food.
Why is my freezer making excessive noise?
Check that the floor is sturdy and level. Ensure the rear panel isn't touching a wall. Remove any objects behind the unit. The compressor may be loud initially but should quiet down. If noise persists, contact customer service.
Why is there condensation on the outside of my freezer?
This is normal on hot or humid days. Moisture condenses on cold surfaces. Wipe with a dry cloth. It does not affect the freezer's performance or the food inside.
What safety precautions should I take with children?
Supervise children 8+ if using. Never allow them to play with or climb inside the freezer. When disposing, remove the door to prevent entrapment. Keep packaging away from children to avoid suffocation.
Can I store non-food items in the freezer?
No, the freezer is intended only for frozen food storage. Do not store flammable substances, aerosol cans with flammable propellant, or water-containing items as they may cause damage or hazard.
How do I clean my freezer?
Unplug the unit first. For exterior, wipe with a soft dry cloth; if soiled, use a cloth moistened with mild detergent then rinse with clean water. Never splash water directly. For interior, open door and wipe dry. Avoid polishing powder, benzine, or hot water. Ensure ventilation openings are clear.
What are the electrical requirements for installation?
Use a dedicated grounded 115V~ 60Hz outlet with a 13 Amp fuse (BS1363/A). Do not use extension cords or adapters. The plug must be accessible. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified technician.
How do I dispose of my old Element freezer?
Do not discard with household waste. Remove the plug, cut the cord, and remove the door to prevent child entrapment. Take the appliance to a WEEE recycling collection point. Contact local council or store for details.

WARNING Improper handling of the unit could lead to death or serious injury.

CAUTION Improper handling of the unit could lead to serious results depending on the circumstances.

Text highlighted by the exclamation mark contains information that should be strictly adhered to.

After reading the instruction manual, store it in an easily accessible place where the user(s) can easily find it.

WARNING

  • All repairs, disassembly and modifications should be performed only by qualified technicians. Attempting to perform these by yourself could result in a fire, malfunction, or injury.
  • Never put flammable or volatile substances into the unit for explosion and fire may be caused.
  • Use a dedicated wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or convenience receptacles as this could result in electric shock, overheating, or fire.

  • Never splash water directly onto the product or wash with water as short-circuit and electrical leakage may occur.

  • Do not damage, modify, excessively bend, strain, twist, or bundle up the power cord. Placing heavy objects on the power cord or squeezing it in a tight place could damage it and possibly result in electric shock or fire.
  • Never use flammable spray cans or leave flammable substances near the unit. Sparks from electrical switches could result in an explosion or fire.

SAFETY FOR CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE PEOPLE

  • This appliance can be used by children 8 years of age and above. Persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or those that lack experience and knowledge of how this product works should be given instruction prior to using and be supervised accordingly.
  • Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be made by children without supervision.
  • Keep all packaging away from children as there is risk of suffocation.

Caution: Risk of fire!

The refrigerant isobutene (R600a) is contained within the refrigerant circuit of the appliance, a natural gas with a high level of environmental compatibility, which is flammable.

- During transportation and installation of the appliance, be certain that none of the components of the refrigerant circuit become damaged.

- avoid open flames and sources of ignition. - thoroughly ventilate the room in which the appliance is situated.

- It is dangerous to alter the specifications or modify this product in any way. Any damage to the cord may cause a short circuit, fire, and/or electric shock.

- The freezer is intended for storage of frozen food. Do not use for any other purpose as this could adversely affect items placed in the unit.

- For indoor use only. Using the unit in a location exposed to rain may result in electrical leakage and electric shock.

- Install the unit in a location where the floor is sturdy enough to support the load of the unit. If the floor is not sturdy enough, or installation is incorrectly performed, the unit could tip over causing injury.

- Leave disassembly and disposal of the unit to qualified experts.

- Never place heavy objects or items containing water on the top of the freezer. Objects could fall down and cause injury, and spilled water could deteriorate the insulation of electrical components and result in electrical leakage.

- If there is a gas leak, do not touch the chest freezer. Turn the gas off and open windows and doors for ventilation. A gas leak may cause injury, fire, or explosion.

  • The cooling performance is reduced if the unit is placed near heat sources such as hot plates and stoves and if it is exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Should the unit need temporary storage, make sure the unit is in a location where the potential for personal injury is minimal. Take precautions so that the door cannot be competely closed. This will minimize the risk that a child becomes trapped inside the unit.
  • If installation in a damp location is unavoidable, it is necessary to install an electrical leakage circuit breaker. If no electrical leakage circuit breaker is installed, electric shock could result.
  • Never hang from the door or climb onto the unit. The unit could tip over or fall which could cause material damage or injury.
  • When disconnecting the power cord plug from the wall outlet, grasp the main body of the plug close to the outlet. Pulling the cord could cause wire breakage, possibly resulting in overheating and fire.
  • Never touch the power cord plug, other electrical components, or operate the switch with wet hands. Electric shock could result.
  • Disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet before moving the unit and make sure that the power cord is not damaged during transportation. A damaged power cord could result in electric shock and/or fire.

• Make sure that the unit does not tip over or fall when it is moved. A falling unit could cause serious injury.
- Never use if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the plug cannot be firmly seated in the receptacle sockets as electrical shock, short-circuit and fire could occur.
