How do I adjust the temperature on my Element ECF15MDCW freezer?

Turn the temperature control dial located on the front-bottom side. Turn clockwise for colder, counterclockwise for warmer. For normal use, set to the middle of the FREEZER range. If cooling is inadequate, turn toward the end of FREEZER. If too cold, turn toward REFRIGERATOR. Wait at least 1 hour after adjustment to stabilize.

What should I do during a power failure?

Minimize opening the door to keep cold air inside. Do not add new items. If the outage is prolonged, place ice in the freezer to help maintain temperature. Once power returns, check food condition; do not refreeze thawed items.

How often should I defrost the freezer and how?

Defrost when ice reaches about 4mm thickness, typically 2-3 times a year. Set thermostat to MAX/8 for 12 hours before, then unplug, remove food, and leave door open. Why is my freezer making excessive noise?

Check that the floor is sturdy and level. Ensure the rear panel isn't touching a wall. Remove any objects behind the unit. The compressor may be loud initially but should quiet down. If noise persists, contact customer service.

Why is there condensation on the outside of my freezer?

This is normal on hot or humid days. Moisture condenses on cold surfaces. Wipe with a dry cloth. It does not affect the freezer's performance or the food inside.

- If there is a gas leak, do not touch the chest freezer. Turn the gas off and open windows and doors for ventilation. A gas leak may cause injury, fire, or explosion.

• The cooling performance is reduced if the unit is placed near heat sources such as hot plates and stoves and if it is exposed to direct sunlight.
• Should the unit need temporary storage, make sure the unit is in a location where the potential for personal injury is minimal. Take precautions so that the door cannot be competely closed. This will minimize the risk that a child becomes trapped inside the unit.
• If installation in a damp location is unavoidable, it is necessary to install an electrical leakage circuit breaker. If no electrical leakage circuit breaker is installed, electric shock could result.
• Never hang from the door or climb onto the unit. The unit could tip over or fall which could cause material damage or injury.
• When disconnecting the power cord plug from the wall outlet, grasp the main body of the plug close to the outlet. Pulling the cord could cause wire breakage, possibly resulting in overheating and fire.

HOW TO USE

This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as

• staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
• farm houses and by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• bed and breakfast type environments;
  -catering and similar non-retail applications

BEFORE USE

• Remove shipping package, tape, etc. and leave doors open for a while in order to ventilate the appliance.
• The unit is cleaned before shipment. However, it is recommended to clean the compartment interior once after delivery.
• Please insert power supply plug into the wall outlet, type "grounded single-phase 115V".
• Allow the unit to operate for about 1 hour to cool the compartment before placing items into the appliance.

WAIT 5 MINUTES OR MORE BEFORE RE-STARTING

- Restarting the unit immediately after it has been turned off may cause fuses to blow and activate the circuit-breaker, the compressor may become overloaded, and/or other damage may occur.

EFFICIENT USE

Please adhere to the following instructions in order to save energy consumption.

• To prevent cold air escaping from the chest freezer, open and close the door quickly and keep the door opened for as short a time period
  • Install the unit in a well-ventilated location.
• Do not use the unit to store water or food that requires water as a storage medium. Never place fresh seafood containing water directly into the unit.

CHECKS

To ensure user safety, perform the following checks after cleaning the unit:

• Is the power cord plug firmly inserted into a dedicated wall outlet? Confirm that the plug is not abnormally hot.
• Check the power cord for cracks and damage. Should the slightest irregularity be observed, contact the dealer from whom you purchased this unit or our customer service department.

CLEANING AND DEFROSTING

To prevent any electrical shock hazards or injury by the rotating circulation fan, disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet before cleaning.

EXTERIOR

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If very soiled, wipe with a cloth that has been moistened with detergent. Then wipe with a cloth that has been dipped in clean water.

WARNING:

Do not splash water directly onto the chest freezer and do not wash with water. A short-circuit and/or electrical shock could be caused.

• Clean the cooler regularly to keep it clean at all times.
• Never use polishing powder, soap powder, benzine, oil or hot water as these will damage the painting and plastic components.
• Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.
• Open the door and wipe clean with a dry cloth.

DEFROSTING/FIRST USE AND INSTALLATION

You should defrost the freezer compartment two or three times a year when the ice is about 4 mm thick. To defrost, follow these steps:

• Set the thermostat to "MAX/8" at least 12 hours before defrosting.
• After this period has elapsed, switch off the freezer compartment by removing the plug from the main power supply.
• Remove all food from the freezer and wrap them in paper and store them in a cold place and leave the door open.
• When the defrosting is finished, the compartment must be cleaned and wiped dry.
• Switch the appliance back on using the thermostat set to "MAX/8" and, wait at least one hour before replacing the foodstuffs.
  • After a few hours the thermostat can be set back to the original position.

WARNING:

Do not use mechanical devices or other artificial means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

WARNING:

Do not use electricals appliances inside the food storage compartment of the appliances, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

Cleaning before use

Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the interior and all internal accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap so as to remove the typical smell of a brand new product, then dry thoroughly.

Important!

It is necessary to have good ventilation around the freezer to allow for the dissipation of heat, high efficiency, and low power consumption. For this reason, sufficiently cleared space should be available around the freezer. It is advisable for there to be 75mm separating the back of the freezer to the wall and at least 100mm of space on its two sides, a height of over 100mm from its top.

Appliances must not be exposed to rain. Sufficient air must be allowed to circulate in the lower rear section of the appliance, as poor air circulation can affect performance. Built-in appliances should be positioned away from heat sources such as heaters and direct sunlight.

Leveling

The appliance should be level in order to eliminate vibration. To make the appliance level, it should be upright and both adjusters should be in stable contact with the floor.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Warning! Before trouble-shooting, disconnect the power supply. Only a qualified electrician or other person must carry out the trouble-shooting that is not in the manual.

Important!

Repairs to the appliance may only be performed by competent service engineers. Improper repairs can give rise to significant hazards for the user. If your appliance needs repairing, please contact your specialist dealer or your local Customer Service Center.

POWER FAILURE	Keep the opening and closing of the door to a minimum in order to prevent cold air from escaping.
	Avoid placing new items in the freezer as this will raise the temperature inside the compartment.
	In the case of a long power suspension, place ice in the freezer.
POWER CORD PROBLEMS	If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or the service agent.
	The freezer must be positioned so that the plug is accessible to the wall outlet.
WHEN NOT USED FOR A LONG PERIOD	Remove all items from the compartment and disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet.
	Clean the compartment interior and wipe away all water.
	To prevent mold and foul odors, leave the door open to completely dry the compartment.
TRANSPORTATION	Disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet.
	When moving the appliance, make sure that the caster wheels do not damage the power cord.
	Do not let the feet hit against floor, steps,etc.
TEMPORARY STORAGE	Put piece of wood or other similar item between the door and main unit to prevent complete closing of the door.
	Be sure not to store the unused chest freezer in a location where children play.
	Should a child enter the compartment and the door is closed, the child may not be able to open the door from the inside.

Please check the following if you encounter problems with the unit. If the problem continues after taking the proper remedial actions, disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet. Transfer the items stored in the chest freezer to a box or other container. Then, contact the dealer from whom you purchased this unit and be ready to provide information as listed in the "REQUIRED INFORMATION" below.

The circumference of chest freezer feels hot	Especially in summer or in the period of starting running, the circumference of the chest freezer feels hot because the Chest freezer inside has a pipe for radiating and preventing condensation.The heat does not affect inside goods.

TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT AND DESCRIPTION OF APPLIANCE

TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT

• To adjust the temperature inside the freezer compartment, adjust the temperature control dial on the front-bottom side of the chest freezer. Normally use chest freezer with the beginning of FREEZER.
• If the cooling performance is inadequate, turn the temperature control dial in the direction of the end of FREEZER. If it is cold, turn the dial in the direction of the beginning of REFRIGERATOR.
• When you need the unit to stop running temporarily, please pull the plug out.
• It gets cold clockwise and warm counterclockwise.

NOTE: High temperature setting will accelerate food waste.

DESCRIPTION OF APPLIANCE

Installation: Any electrical work that is required for installing this appliance MUST be carried out by a qualified electrician.

• Before making any electrical connections, ensure the following:
  Electrical connection does not refer to anything.
• Electrical safety is only guaranteed when the grounding system of your house is in accordance with the related local regulations.
• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
• Do not bend, stretch or pull the supply cable to avoid electric shock.
• Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.
• Ensure the power socket is suitable for the maximum power of the machine (fuses in the power circuit must be 13 amp).
• The supply voltage should be the same as that indicated in the technical specifications and the appliance rating plate.
• The appliance should be grounded and in compliance with the applicable laws.
• When installing, the power socket must be within easy reach.

• If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this unit check with a qualified electrician for replacement.

• The use of adapters, multiple connectors or extension cables is not recommended.

• The appliance must be connected to a 115 volt 60Hz AC supply by means of a three-pin socket, suitably grounded and protected by a 13 amp fuse.
• Should the fuse need to be replaced, a 13 amp fuse approved to BS1363/A standards must be used.
• The plug contains a removable fuse cover that must be refitted when the fuse is replaced. If the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a replacement cover has been fitted or the plug is replaced.
• A damaged plug should be cut off as close to the plug body as possible, the fuse should be removed and the plug disposed of safely.

• As the colours of the wires in the power cable may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, and proceed as follows:
• The green & yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug that is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol.
• The blue wire must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter 'N'.
• The brown wire must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter 'L'.
• If the SUPPLY CORD is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, this service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

DISPOSAL OF THE APPLIANCE

This Product (including any accessories included in the original packaging) as supplied and distributed in new condition, is warranted by Element Appliance Company, LLC ("Element") to the original customer who purchases the Product from an authorized Element retailer (the "Original Customer" or "you") against defects in material and workmanship under proper use, maintenance, and care according to the owner's manual, warnings, and instructions accompanying the Product ("Warranty") as follows:

* PLEASE NOTE – Proof of purchase evidencing the date of purchase by the Original Purchaser from an authorized Element retailer (“Valid Proof of Purchase”) is required for all Warranty service. The express Warranty set forth herein is subject to all terms and conditions set forth below.

1. WARRANTY SERVICE:

A. ONE-YEAR WARRANTY: Except as provided in subpart 1.B below, for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase by the Original Customer (the "Warranty Period"), if the parts or components covered by this Warranty are determined by Element or Element's authorized service provider to be defective in material or workmanship, Element will, at its sole and absolute discretion and option: (i) repair the defective part or component at no charge to the Original Customer, (ii) replace the defective Product with a new Product of similar or better quality, at no charge to the Original Customer, or (iii) refund the documented purchase price paid by the Original Customer (excluding tax) to the Original Customer upon return of the defective Product as directed by Element. After the Warranty Period expires, the Original Customer must pay for all parts, components, shipping and handling, labor, and replacement costs associated with the Product or any part or component thereof, regardless of any defects in the Product or any part or component thereof.

B. LIMITED EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH PRODUCT REGISTRATION: If and only if the Original Customer registers the Product at www.elementetelectronics.com within ninety (90) days of the date of purchase by the Original Customer, then the Warranty Period discussed in subpart 1.A. above shall be extended an additional one (1) year to a new Warranty Period equaling two (2) years from the date of purchase by the Original Customer. If the Product is not registered as provided for in this subpart 1.B, then the standard one-year Warranty Period set forth in subpart 1.A shall apply.

C. TIMING AND PROCEDURE: Before Warranty service can commence, the Original Customer must contact either (i) the retailer from whom the Original Customer purchased the Product, or (ii) Element directly, in either case for problem determination and service procedures. Valid Proof of Purchase evidencing that the Product is within the Warranty Period MUST be presented by Original Customer in order to obtain the requested Warranty service. Please have your model and serial number available, along with your date of purchase of the Product. To remain eligible for Warranty service, Original Customer may not return the Product or any part or component thereof to the retailer or Element without Element's prior written consent.

2. EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS TO WARRANTY SERVICE

The Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship of the Product encountered in the normal, non-commercial use of the Product, and does not cover (a) damages or malfunctions resulting from improper or unreasonable use or maintenance, abuse, negligence, failure to follow instructions contained in any written materials that accompany the Product, deterioration by reason of excess moisture, corrosive atmosphere, lightning, power surges, connections to improper voltage supply, unauthorized alteration, or other external causes such as extremes in temperature or humidity, modifications, scratches or discoloration; (b) improper or incorrectly performed repairs by service providers not authorized by Element; (c) transportation, shipping, delivery, pickup, insurance, installation, or setup costs; (d) ordinary wear and tear, cosmetic damage, or damage due to acts of nature, including but not limited to,

water, floods, wind, storm, tornado, earthquake, or fire, or due to damage caused by extraordinary impact events, such as dropping, crushing, demolition or other extraordinary damage;

(e) commercial use of the Product, or use of the Product for anything other than single-family household or residential use; or (f) modification of the Product or any part of the Product.

This Warranty is made to the Original Customer only and does not cover Products sold AS IS or WITH ALL FAULTS. The Warranty is invalid if the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from the Product. This Warranty is valid only in the United States, and only applies to Product if it was purchased and serviced in the United States. The addition of equipment or features to the Product that are not manufactured or recommended by Element could affect the intended function of the Product, and therefore may void the Warranty. Furthermore, the exposure of the Product to chemicals, heat, cold, humidity, or other elements can affect the Product components, and therefore, the Warranty does not cover discoloration, fading, cosmetic changes, rust, or any damages or failure related to any such items. The Warranty is contingent upon the proper use, maintenance, and care of the Product. The Warranty may be void if the Product has been used in a manner contradictory to, or in violation of, the terms of the user's manual, warnings, or instructions accompanying the Product.

THIS WARRANTY IS MADE IN LIEU OF AND SUPERSEDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR GENERAL USE, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, COLLATERAL, STATUTORY, OR PROVIDED BY COMMON LAW, THE UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE, OR OTHERWISE. ELEMENT FURTHER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AFTER THE END OF THE WARRANTY TERM DEFINED ABOVE. NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY OR GUARANTY GIVEN BY ANY OTHER PERSON, FIRM, OR ENTITY WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCT SHALL BE BINDING ON ELEMENT. REPAIR, REPLACEMENT, OR REFUND OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE, AT ELEMENT'S SOLE DISCRETION, ARE THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES OF THE CUSTOMER.

ELEMENT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE USE, MISUSE, OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCT. THESE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, ANY DAMAGES IN THE FORM OF LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, LEGAL FEES, ECONOMIC LOSS, PERSONAL INJURIES, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES CAUSED BY CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF ELEMENT. NOTWITHSTANDING THE FOREGOING, ELEMENT'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO ANY CUSTOMER SHALL NOT EXCEED THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT. THIS WARRANTY SHALL NOT EXTEND TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE ORIGINAL CUSTOMER WHO PURCHASED THE PRODUCT, AND IS NOT TRANSFERRABLE. NO PERSON IS AUTHORIZED TO ALTER, EXTEND, OR WAIVE THIS WARRANTY OR ANY OF ITS TERMS OR CONDITIONS.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on warranties, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This Warranty gives you specific rights, and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state. The exclusions and limitations to the Warranty apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and unless restricted or prohibited by law. Where any term of this Warranty is prohibited by applicable law, it shall be null and void, but the remainder of this Warranty shall remain in effect.
