SEPARATED FLUID:
The liquid in this thermometer may become separated or air bubbles may also appear in the clear liquid on the maximum side. This does not represent defect or damage. To reunite heavy liquid and eliminate air bubbles prior to thermometer use, please perform the following steps:
- Hold thermometer at the top as shown in Fig. 2 and strike the bottom end sharply against the palm of the other hand.
- Next, grasp the thermometer at the top (as in a tennis racquet grip, Fig.3) and swing the thermometer downward in an arc.
- Repeat the above steps as necessary to reunite the heavy liquid. Note: If the steps above do not remove the air bubbles or reunite the heavy liquid in the columns completely, hold the thermometer upright under hot tap water so the water washes over the temperature sensing bulb. Do NOT allow the columns to rise about 130^ . Hold the thermometer in an upright position to cool to room temperature. Wipe dry.
MOUNTING
For accurate minimum/maximum temperatures, always mount the thermometer in an upright position. Do not mount in direct sunlight or where there is a great deal of reflected light. To prevent further fluid separation, store the thermometer in an upright, top end up position.
RESET THERMOMETER
Press and hold the center button, this releases the markers. Hold until the markers rest on top of the heavy liquid columns. If the limit markers stick, remove the red magnet from the thermometer and place on the marker and move it down to the top of the liquid. Replace the magnet for future use. To obtain best results from the min/max thermometer, read and reset at least once daily.
