Frequently Asked Questions - 72353 iPort

What devices are compatible with the iPort 72353 BaseStation?
The BaseStation is designed for use with iPort CONNECT PRO Cases, which are available for various tablets and smartphones. It is not compatible with devices directly.
How do I install the BaseStation on a desk?
Use the included security tool to remove the security weight from the BaseStation. Mark the four mounting holes on the desk, drill pilot holes, and secure the weight with the provided screws. Then reattach the BaseStation and tighten the security screws clockwise.
Can I use Power over Ethernet (PoE) instead of the AC adapter?
Yes, you can upgrade to PoE+ by purchasing the iPort PoE+ Upgrade Adapter and connecting a Cat 5 cable from a PoE+ switch or iPort PoE Injector (model 72106 sold separately). See the manual for installation steps.
How do I lock the case onto the BaseStation?
Place the iPort CONNECT PRO Case onto the BaseStation in either portrait or landscape orientation. Insert the security tool into the back of the BaseStation and rotate clockwise until the red indicator aligns with the lock icon. To unlock, rotate counterclockwise.
What is the power output of the BaseStation?
The BaseStation provides power to the connected case for charging. The exact output depends on the case and device, but the BaseStation accepts 25V 1.5A DC input or PoE+.
Can I rotate the case after locking?
No, the case cannot be rotated once locked. Ensure you select the desired orientation (portrait or landscape) before locking the case to the BaseStation.
What is the security weight and why is it heavy?
The security weight is a heavy metal component at the bottom of the BaseStation that can be screwed to a table to prevent theft or tipping. It is intentionally heavy to provide stability.
What is the length of the included power cable?
The manual does not specify the exact length, but it is a standard barrel plug DC cable suitable for desktop use. For longer runs, use the PoE+ option with a Cat 5 cable.
Does the BaseStation support charging two devices at once?
No, the BaseStation is designed to charge a single iPort CONNECT PRO Case at a time. It is not a multi-device charger.
How do I clean the BaseStation?
Unplug the unit before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Avoid getting moisture into the connectors.
