Frequently Asked Questions - 2711APRDK-LF Irritrol

How do I set the time and date on the 2711APRDK-LF?
Press the SET button until the year flashes. Use the + or - buttons to adjust. Press SET again to move to month, day, and time. Confirm with SET.
How many watering programs does this controller support?
The 2711APRDK-LF supports up to 3 independent programs (A, B, C), each with multiple start times and days.
What type of battery is required for backup?
A standard 9V alkaline battery is used to retain time and program settings during power outages. Replace it annually.
Can I manually start a zone without affecting the program?
Yes, press the MANUAL button, select the desired zone, and set the run time. The controller will resume its normal schedule after manual watering.
How do I connect a rain sensor?
Connect the rain sensor wires to the SENSOR terminals (S1 and S2). Ensure the sensor is normally closed. Then enable rain sensor function in the settings menu.
What is the maximum run time per zone?
The maximum run time per cycle is 99 hours, but typical residential zones run 10-60 minutes. Adjust via the RUN TIME setting for each zone.
Why is my controller not turning on?
Check the transformer connection to AC power and ensure the breaker is on. Verify the fuse (if any) is intact. A dead backup battery won't prevent operation but may cause display issues.
How do I reset the controller to factory defaults?
Press and hold the RESET button (located behind the door panel) for 5 seconds while the unit is powered. All programs will be erased.
Can I use this controller for drip irrigation?
Yes, but you may need a pressure regulator and filter. Set shorter run times (e.g., 15-30 minutes) as drip irrigation delivers water slowly.
What does the 'LF' in the model number stand for?
'LF' indicates lead-free construction, complying with RoHS and environmental regulations.

    ♦ Holding: 0.20 amp, 4.8 VA
  • Manual On/Off - Internal and External Bleed
  • Adjustable Flow Control

Installation Procedure

CAUTION: When assembling the drip zone valve kit components, use just 1 12 to 2 turns of PTFE tape on male threads. Never use pipe dope. To achieve a leak-free thread connection, turn the male fitting until it is finger-tight, and then add one or two more turns. Over-tightening can cause splitting and failure of the female threads.

⚠️ Important: Ensure the Y-filter, control valve and pressure regulator are installed in the correct flow orientation. Flow direction arrows are provided on each component. Refer to Figure 1.

  1. Thread the Y-filter inlet into the valve outlet with the provided 1" x 3/4" NPT reducer bushing. Use PTFE tape on all threaded connections. Angle the Y-filter slightly downward as shown in Figure 1.
  2. Thread the pressure regulator inlet into the Y-filter outlet.
  3. Connect the water source supply line and piping to drip emitters.

NOTE: Installing the valve assembly below grade in a valve box is recommended for protection and ease of service.

NOTE: Refer to the 2500TF Series Valve Instruction Guide provided in the kit for complete valve installation and operation information.

NOTE: To adapt the Drip Zone Valve Kit for dripline applications, install the provided 3/4" MPT x 1/2" Slip fitting and CA-710 dripline compression adapter to the pressure regulator outlet.

  1. Flush the system to remove debris.
  2. To determine the recommended minimum/maximum number of drip emitters per control valve, refer to the table below.
