How do I set up the ViewSonic ViewMate W2201 webcam?

Simply connect the webcam to a USB port on your computer. The drivers install automatically. Position the webcam on your monitor or tripod and adjust the angle. For video calls, select 'ViewSonic ViewMate W2201' as the camera in your app.

My computer does not detect the webcam. What should I do?

Try a different USB port. Ensure the cable is fully inserted. On Windows, check Device Manager under 'Imaging devices'. Restart your computer. If still not detected, test on another computer to isolate the issue.

Why is the video quality poor?

Make sure the lens is clean and the privacy shutter is fully open. Ensure adequate lighting. Adjust focus by tapping the autofocus area in your app. Check video settings in the app—select 1080p resolution.

The microphone is not working. How can I fix it?

Verify the microphone is not muted in your app or system settings. On Windows, go to Sound settings and ensure the ViewSonic webcam is selected as the input device. Check the privacy settings to allow microphone access.

Why is the webcam lagging or stuttering?

Close other applications that use the webcam or high CPU usage. Reduce resolution to 720p in your app settings. Ensure your USB port is USB 2.0 or higher. Update your graphics drivers.

How do I adjust the field of view?

The ViewMate W2201 has a fixed 90° field of view. To change the framing, physically reposition the webcam closer or farther from the subject. Some apps allow digital zoom.

How should I clean the lens?

Use a microfiber cloth slightly dampened with water or lens cleaner. Gently wipe the lens in a circular motion. Avoid using paper towels or harsh chemicals that may scratch the lens.

Important! Save the original box and all packing material for future shipping needs.

Note : The word “Window” in this user guide refers to the following Microsoft operating systems: Window 98SE, Window ME, Window 2000 and Window XP.

Power Source Adjustment

Choose either “50Hz” or “60Hz” mode depending on your power source environment or video signal requirements, to avoid producing a blurry image.

Software Installation

Attention:

Make sure to install the driver and software BEFORE plugging the camera into a USB port.

1. Insert the "ViewMate Wizard" software CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
2. The installation program will run automatically. If the installation does not auto play, please run "Setup.exe" from the CD-ROM's root directory to install.

W2201 Installation

Attention:

Make sure to install the driver and software BEFORE plugging the camera into a USB port.

1. Click the "W2201 Installation" icon to install device drivers and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

1. Click "Next" to continue.

1. If the "Hardware Installation" dialogue box appears, click "Continue Anyway". (OS 98SE/ME/2000)

1. Click "Finish" once driver installation is complete.

VP-EYE Installation

Attention:

Make sure to install the driver and software BEFORE plugging the camera into a USB port.

1. Please click "VP-EYE Installation" and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software applications.

1. For Window 2000/ME/98SE systems:

When all setup procedures are finished, please restart the operating system.

Caution: Window XP system

When all setup procedures are finished, you must install hardware directly, don't restart the operating system manually before plugging the USB cable into camera and USB port.

Hardware Installation

1. Plug the enclosed USB cable into the camera and the USB port on the PC separately. (To avoid low voltage, it is recommended to plug the cable connector to USB port on PC directly)
2. The camera LED indicator will light up upon successful installation.

Notice:

Please download the latest update of “Service Pack” (from Start → Window Update) to keep the camera running smoothly.

Attention:

If you have more than one image device in your system, please select the ViewSonic W2201 Webcam as the PC Camera device. In this way, you can use this camera to capture images.

Limited Warranty

ViewSonic® WebCam

What the warranty covers:

ViewSonic ^® warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use, during the warranty period. If a product proves to be defective in material or workmanship during the warranty period, ViewSonic ^® will at its sole option repair or replace the product with a like product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufactured or refurbished parts or components.

How long the warranty is effective:

ViewSonic® WebCam products are warranted for one (1) year for all parts, and one (1) year for labor from the date of the first consumer purchase.

Who the warranty protects:

This warranty is valid only for the first consumer purchaser.

What the warranty does not cover:

1. Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modified or removed.
2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:

a. Accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product modification, or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product.

b. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by ViewSonic ^® .
c. Any damage of the product due to shipment.
d. Removal or installation of the product.
e. Causes external to the product, such as electric power fluctuations or failure.
f. Use of supplies or parts not meeting ViewSonic's specifications.
g. Normal wear and tear.
h. Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect.

How to get service:

1. For information about receiving service under warranty, contact ViewSonic® Customer Support at 800-888-8583. You will need to provide your product's serial number.
2. To obtain warranted service, you will be required to provide (a) the original dated sales slip, (b) your name, (c) your address, (d) a description of the problem, and (e) the serial number of the product.
3. Take or ship the product freight prepaid in the original container to an authorized ViewSonic ^® service center or ViewSonic ^® .
4. For additional information or the name of the nearest ViewSonic® service center, contact ViewSonic®.

Limitation of implied warranties:

There are no warranties, express or implied, which extend beyond the description contained herein including the implied warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Exclusion of damages:

ViewSonic's liability is limited to the cost of repair or replacement of the product. ViewSonic ^® shall not be liable for:

1. Damage to other property caused by any defects in the product, damages based upon inconvenience, loss of use of the product, loss of time, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of goodwill, interference with business relationships, or other commercial loss, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
2. Any other damages, whether incidental, consequential or otherwise.
3. Any claim against the customer by any other party.
