HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Remove all packaging.
- The Aquascreen® Filter has been installed in the spout of the Kettle during production. If it has been dislodged during shipping, check inside the Kettle or in the box for the Filter. Install before using the Kettle (see Care & Cleaning section).
- Plug the Power Base into a 120V AC wall outlet.
- Fill the Kettle with 1 liter (4 cups) of cold tap water, place on the Power Base and press the On/Off Switch to the On position and bring to a boil.
- Once water has boiled, open the cover and add 500 ml (2 cups) of white vinegar. Let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight. Discard water and vinegar solution.
- Fill the kettle to the MAX fill line with cold tap water. Bring to a boil and discard. Repeat.
- The kettle is now ready to use.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- DO NOT remove or install the filter when the Kettle is hot.
- DO NOT use the kettle without the filter in position:
- This may allow water to spit out when boiling
- The kettle may remain in the boil cycle too long once the water has boiled
- The kettle may not shut off
HOW TO USE
- Open the Lid by pressing the button at the top of the handle. Fill the kettle through the lid opening with a minimum of 500 ml (2 cups) of water.
- DO NOT attempt to fill the Kettle while it is plugged into the wall outlet.
DO NOT use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior of the kettle.
DO NOT fill past the MAX level indicated on the glass.
Overfilling may cause water to spit out when boiling.
- Close the Lid. Ensure that it snaps tightly into place.
- Ensure that the kettle is correctly engaged on the Base.
- Plug into a 120V AC wall outlet.
NOTE: Never plug kettle into an electrical outlet when the kettle is empty.
- Direct kettle spout away from cabinets, walls, etc. to prevent possible steam damage.
- Press the On/Off Switch to the ON ('I') position. The blue lights inside the Kettle will illuminate to indicate that the Kettle is in the boil cycle. Once the water has boiled, the On/Off Switch will automatically switch to the OFF ('O') position and the blue lights will go out.
IMPORTANT:
a) The kettle shuts off automatically after the boiling cycle is complete.
b) To remove the Kettle from the Base before the boiling cycle is complete, press the On/Off Switch to the OFF position ('O'). If the Switch is not in the OFF position the boil cycle will restart when the Kettle is replaced on the Base.
- The Lid should not be opened when the Kettle is hot.
- If you want to use the Kettle again, allow the thermal safety switch to cool down for 15 to 20 seconds then depress the On/Off Switch to the ON ('I') position. If the On/Off Switch does not remain in the ON position, the water is hot enough to use without reheating.
- Unplug cord from wall outlet before lifting Kettle from Power Base. Only grip the Kettle by the Handle as all other surfaces will be hot.
- Return the Kettle to the Base or a heat resistant surface after use.
- IMPORTANT: If the Kettle is accidentally switched on when empty, the thermostat will automatically cycle on and off to prevent the Kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, press the On/Off switch to the OFF ('O') position and unplug the Kettle immediately. Let the Kettle cool before refilling.
- It is recommended that the Power Cord be disconnected from the wall outlet when not in use.
- DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base or tamper with the connector in any way.
CARE AND CLEANING
- All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
- Unplug Kettle from wall outlet. Empty the Kettle and allow it to cool before cleaning.
Exterior
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. Dry exterior thoroughly before use.
- DO NOT immerse kettle or power base in water or other liquid.
Removing the Filter
- Locate the two slots (b) on each side of the Filter Holder.
- Use a small screwdriver or pointed tool in one of the slots (b) to release the Filter from the Filter Holder.
Installing the Filter
- Place one of the small round tabs (a) into the slot (b) on one side of the filter holder.
- Then snap the opposite tab (a) into position while moving the filter upward into position. The center post (c) should be positioned so that it is through the middle hole (d) in the top edge of the Filter.

Descaling
Under normal use, scale build-up will form on the inside of the kettle and will coat the stainless steel plate. Scale, which has accumulated inside the kettle must be removed.
- Boil equal parts of white vinegar and water (500 ml/ 2 cups of each is recommended).
- Once the water has boiled, allow the mixture to stand several hours or overnight.
- Empty out mixture and fill kettle to the MAX level with fresh water.
- Bring water to a boil and discard.
- For heavy scale build-up, use a solution of pure vinegar, and let stand overnight.
-
Empty out vinegar and fill kettle to the MAX level with fresh water.
-
Bring water to a boil and discard.
This descaling process should be repeated once a month
NOTE: Scale build-up can be delayed by pouring out water after use then refilling the kettle when required.
A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
