Frequently Asked Questions - 1384 ARIETE

How do I use the Ariete 1384 coffee maker for the first time?
Before first use, wash the carafe and filter basket with warm soapy water. Run a cycle with water only (no coffee) to rinse the system. Then you are ready to brew coffee.
What type of coffee filter does the 1384 use?
The machine includes a permanent mesh filter. You can also use standard #4 paper filters for a cleaner taste.
How do I clean the coffee maker?
After each use, discard the used grounds and rinse the filter basket. Wash the carafe and lid in warm water. For deep cleaning, run a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1) through a brew cycle, then run two cycles of fresh water to remove any residue.
Why is my coffee not hot enough?
Ensure the carafe is properly placed on the warming plate. If the warming plate is dirty, clean it. Also, preheat the carafe with hot water before brewing. If the issue persists, the heating element may need service.
How do I descale the Ariete 1384?
Descaling is recommended every 1-2 months depending on water hardness. Use a descaling solution or a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Fill the water tank, run a brew cycle, then discard the solution. Rinse by running 2-3 cycles of fresh water.
Can I use the coffee maker without the carafe in place?
No, the machine is designed to stop brewing if the carafe is removed (anti-drip function). However, you can pause mid-brew for up to 30 seconds to pour a cup.
What is the capacity of the water tank?
The water tank holds up to 1.25 liters, which yields about 10-12 cups of coffee.
Why does the coffee maker turn off by itself?
The Ariete 1384 has an auto shut-off feature that turns off the warming plate after about 2 hours for safety. This is normal and helps save energy.
Can I use ground coffee or only pods?
This machine uses ground coffee (not pods). Add the desired amount to the filter basket, typically 1 tablespoon per cup.
How do I clean the permanent filter?
Rinse the permanent filter under running water after each use. For a deeper clean, scrub gently with a soft brush and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

USEFUL TIPS TO PREPARE A GOOD COFFEE

The grounded coffee must be slightly pressed in the filter holder. A stronger or weaker coffee depends on the coffee grinding level, on the quantity put into the filter holder and the pressing. A few seconds are required for the coffee to be dispensed into the cups. If the dispensing time is longer, this means that the coffee is ground too fine or that the coffee put into the filter holder has been pressed too much.
