Frequently Asked Questions - RM/193 Ramtons

How do I use the Ramtons RM/193 coffee maker?
Open the water tank cover and fill with clean water up to the max level mark. Place a paper filter or the permanent filter in the funnel, add ground coffee, and close the tank cover. Ensure the glass carafe is on the warming plate. Plug in and switch on; the indicator lamp will light up. Brewing takes about 12 minutes for a full pot. The coffee will be kept warm automatically until you switch off the appliance.
What type of coffee grounds should I use?
Use medium-ground coffee suited for drip coffee makers. The amount depends on your taste preference and the water level. Typically, one tablespoon per cup is recommended, but adjust to your liking.
Can I use the coffee maker without a paper filter?
Yes, the machine includes a permanent filter that you can use instead of paper filters. Simply place the permanent filter in the funnel and add coffee grounds.
Why is my coffee maker taking longer to brew than usual?
This usually indicates that the coffee maker needs descaling. Mineral deposits from water can clog the system. To descale, add water and a few drops of vinegar, then run several brewing cycles. Rinse thoroughly afterward.
How do I descale the RM/193?
Fill the water tank with water and add several drops of vinegar. Place a paper filter (or use the permanent filter) without coffee grounds. Run a full brewing cycle. Repeat if necessary, then run two cycles with fresh water to remove any vinegar taste.
Can I wash the glass carafe in the dishwasher?
No, the glass carafe should not be washed in the dishwasher. Instead, wash it by hand in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Harsh detergents or dishwasher cycles may damage the glass.
How do I clean the coffee maker body?
Unplug and allow the appliance to cool completely. Never immerse the body in water. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
What does the indicator lamp mean?
The red indicator lamp turns on when the coffee maker is switched on and remains lit during the brewing process. It indicates that the appliance is operating. Once brewing is complete, the lamp stays on as long as the keep warm function is active.
Is the coffee maker suitable for commercial use?
No, this coffee maker is intended for domestic and household use only, including staff kitchens, farmhouses, and hotel guest rooms. It is not designed for heavy-duty commercial use.
Can I use the coffee maker without water?
Never operate the coffee maker without water. It may damage the heating element. Always fill the water tank with fresh, cold water to at least the minimum level before switching on.
