Frequently Asked Questions - SDW6726MS SHARP

How do I start the dishwasher?
Open the door, select a cycle and options, press START/CANCEL, then close the door within 4 seconds. The cycle will begin automatically.
What does the error code E1 mean?
Error E1 indicates a longer inlet time. Check that the water faucet is fully open, the water pressure is adequate, and the drain hose is not kinked or improperly routed. See the troubleshooting section for details.
How do I clean the filters?
Remove the lower rack. Rotate and lift out the Cylinder Filter, rinse under running water. Then remove the bottom spray arm and lift out the Fine Filter and rinse. Reinstall both securely.
Can I adjust the upper rack height?
Yes, lift the Adjustment Arms on both sides of the upper rack and pull up or push down to change clearance from 8" to 10". Always adjust with empty racks.
What does the Sanitize option do?
The Sanitize option heats water to 158°F (70°C) to kill bacteria. The Sanitized Indicator Light will turn on when the cycle completes if the temperature was reached.
Why is my dishwasher not drying dishes properly?
Ensure the Heat Dry option is selected and the rinse aid dispenser is filled. Also check that dishes are loaded correctly to allow airflow.
How do I use the delay start?
Press the Delay pad repeatedly to set a delay from 1 to 24 hours. The display shows delay hours. Then press START/CANCEL and close the door. To cancel delay, press and hold START/CANCEL.
What should I do if the dishwasher leaks?
First, ensure the dishwasher is level. Check connections and drain hose for kinks. If the error code E4 appears, there is an overflow; turn off the water supply and call for service.
How do I activate the child lock?
Press and hold the Light and Express Wash pads simultaneously until the Child Lock Indicator turns on. Repeat to deactivate.
What type of detergent should I use?
Only use automatic dishwasher detergent (powder, gel, or tablets). Do not use hand dishwashing liquid. Add detergent to the main wash compartment and close the cover.

What does error code E1 mean on my SHARP SDW6726MS?
Frequently Asked Questions - 1 h
Response Notice-Facile

The error code E1 indicates a water filling problem. This means that the dishwasher is not filling with enough water within the required time to start the cycle.

Possible causes and solutions

  • Water tap closed or partially open - Check that the cold water tap is fully open
  • Insufficient water pressure - Check the pressure of your water supply. Low pressure can prevent quick filling
  • Water inlet hose bent or damaged - Inspect the water inlet hose for kinks, knots, or cracks that could block the flow
  • Clogged water inlet filter - A dirty filter can restrict water flow. Clean it if accessible

If the E1 code persists after these checks, contact Sharp customer service for technical assistance.

What does error code E4 mean on my SHARP SDW6726MS and why does the cycle stop mid-way?
Frequently Asked Questions - 2 h
Response Notice-Facile

Error code E4 - Leak or overflow

The code E4 on your SHARP SDW6726MS indicates a water leak issue inside the dishwasher. When this code appears, the appliance automatically stops the cycle to prevent damage.

Immediate actions to take

  • Stop the dishwasher by pressing the START/CANCEL button
  • Shut off the water supply at the source if you see water escaping
  • Inspect the door seal - check that it is not worn, misaligned, or dirty
  • Check the drain hose - ensure it is not kinked, blocked, or damaged

Why the cycle stops

The overflow sensor of your SDW6726MS detects an abnormal accumulation of water and cuts off the cycle for safety. This may result from poor sealing or a drainage issue.

After correction

Once the problem is identified and repaired, manually drain any remaining water, press START/CANCEL to reset the code, and then run an empty test cycle (without dishes) to check proper operation.

If the E4 code reappears after checking, contact SHARP customer service.

SMART WASH SYSTEM

Your dishwasher has Smart Wash System. This system can determine the type of cycle required to clean the dishes in the load with maximum efficiency. When a partial load of lightly soiled dishes is placed in the unit, a wash cycle similar to a short wash will automatically be performed. When a full load of heavily soiled dishes is placed in the unit, a heavy wash cycle will automatically be performed.

POWER WASH SPRAY

Your dishwasher is equipped with Power Wash spray in addition to the upper spray arm and the lower spray arm. It is located in the back left corner, and effectively washes heavy soiled pots and pans.

Close-up of mechanical components and parts in a transparent housing (no visible text or symbols)

FILTER SYSTEM

Your dishwasher has a multiple filter system. In this system there are four mesh filters that can separate soiled water and clean water into different chambers. The multiple filter system helps your dishwasher achieve better performance using less water and energy.

Cylinder Filter Fine Filter

HOW YOUR DISHWASHER CLEANS

Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent through the spray arms against soiled surfaces.

The dishwasher fills with water, covering the filter area. Water is then pumped through the multiple filter system and spray arms. Separated soil particles go down the drain as the water is pumped out and replaced with clean water.

The number of water fills will vary with the cycle being used.

BASIC OPERATIONS

1 Load dishwasher. (See preparing and loading dishes.)
2 Add detergent. (See fill detergent dispenser.)
3 Add rinse aid if needed. (See fill rinse aid dispenser.)
4 Select desired CYCLE. (See cycle chart.) The indicator light above the pad will turn on when selected.
5 Select desired OPTIONS. The indicator light above the pad will glow when selected.
6 To start, press the START/CANCEL pad.
7 Close the door within 4 seconds to begin the cycle.

Your dishwasher has the top control panel.

Your selections will only be activated when the door is firmly closed.

NOTE

The dishwasher is programmed to remember your last cycle so you do not have to reset each time. To start the dishwasher using the same cycle and options selected on the previous wash, simply press the START/CANCEL pad.

DISH PREPARATION

Scrape away large pieces of food, bones, pits, toothpicks, etc. The continuous filtered wash system will remove the remaining food particles. Burned-on foods should be loosened before loading. Empty liquids from glasses and cups.

Foods such as mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice and tomato-based products may cause discoloration of stainless steel and plastics if allowed to sit for a long period of time. If not operating the dishwasher immediately, it is best to rinse off dishes soiled with these types of foods.

If the dishwasher drains into a food disposer, be sure disposer is completely empty before starting dishwasher.

LOADING THE LOWER RACK

The Lower Rack is designed to load plates, soup bowls, saucers and cookware. The elevated Upper Rack space will allow you to load dishes that are a maximum of 13" in height.

SHARP SDW6726MS - LOADING THE LOWER RACK - 1

Large items should be placed along the edge so they do not interfere with the upper spray arm rotation or prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. Large items should be turned over so that the inside faces downward so they do not interfere with the lower spray arm rotation.

LOADING THE THIRD RACK

The Third Rack can be used to load cutlery or other accessories such as spatulas or cooking spoons. Silverware, knives and utensils should be loaded in the third rack separate from each other in the appropriate positions so they do not nest together.

NOTES

  • Do not load silver or silver-plated silverware with stainless steel. These metals can be damaged by contact with each other during washing.
  • Some foods (such as salt, vinegar, milk products, fruit juices, etc.) can pit or corrode silverware. DO NOT WASH ALUMINUM COOKWARE IN YOUR DISHWASHER.

  • Do not let any item extend through bottom.
  • Be sure nothing protrudes through bottom of the silverware basket or rack that could block the lower spray arm.
    • Always load sharp items (knives, skewers, etc.) pointing down.

FOR BEST RESULTS:

  • To avoid injury, load utensils such as knives and skewers with handles pointing up and sharp metal edges pointing down. Items such as forks and spoons may be loaded with handles pointing up or down, using separators to prevent the edges of the silverware from nesting.
  • Place small items such as baby bottle caps, jar lids, corncob holders, etc. in the basket sections with hinged covers. Close the covers to hold small items in place.
  • Unload or remove the baskets before unloading the racks to avoid water drops from falling on the silverware.
  • When handles are up, mix items in each section of the baskets with some pointing up and some down to avoid nesting. Spray cannot reach nested items.

ADDING A DISH

To add or remove items after wash cycle starts:

1 Open door slightly and wait a few seconds until wash action stops before completely opening.
2 Add the item.
3 Press the START/CANCEL pad, then close the door latch firmly within 4 seconds, the cycle will automatically resume. If the door is not closed within 4 seconds after pressing START/CANCEL, the cycle will time out and not start.

CAUTION TO AVOID BURN INJURY: Slightly open door and wait until spray arms and wash action stop. Hot steam may exit the dishwasher or hot water may splash out of it. Failure to USE CAUTION may result in injury.

FILLING THE RINSE AID

Rinse aid greatly improves drying and reduces water spots and filming. Without rinse aid, your dishes and dishwasher interior will have excessive moisture. The Heat Dry option will not perform as well without rinse aid. The Rinse Aid Dispenser, located next to the detergent dispenser, automatically releases a measured amount of rinse aid during the final rinse.

If spotting and poor drying are a problem, increase the amount of rinse aid dispensed by rotating the dial to a higher number. The dial is located under the dispenser cap.

If the rinse aid is low, the rinse aid light is illuminated at the beginning and end of the cycle indicating that it is time to refill.

Your dishwasher is designed to use a liquid rinse aid. The use of rinse aid greatly improves drying performance after the final rinse. Do not use a solid or bar-type rinse aid. Under normal conditions, the rinse aid will last approximately one month. Try to keep the reservoir full, but do not overfill.

1 Open the door, turn the dispenser cap to the left and lift it out.

WASH CYCLE SELECTIONS

Cycle times are approximate and will vary with options selected. Hot water is necessary to activate dishwasher detergent and melt fatty food soils. An automatic sensor will check the incoming water temperature, and, if it is not hot enough, the timer will be delayed for automatic water heating in the main wash of all cycles. This happens even when HI-TEMP WASH is selected as an even higher temperature will be guaranteed to handle heavier soil loads.

CARE AND CLEANING

CLEANING THE EXTERIOR DOOR AND PANEL

1 Stainless steel panel - Clean the stainless steel door and handle regularly to remove any debris with a soft cleaning cloth.

Do not use appliance wax, polish, bleach or products containing chlorine to clean the stainless steel door.

2 Control panel - Gently clean the control panel with a lightly dampened cloth.

CLEAN THE STAINLESS STEEL INNER DOOR AND TUB

The tub is made of stainless steel; it will not rust or corrode if the dishwasher is scratched or dented.

AIR GAP

If there is an air gap installed with your dishwasher, make sure it is clean, so the dishwasher will drain properly.

Air gap is not part of your dishwasher. Before cleaning the air gap, first turn off the dishwasher, then lift off the cover. Remove the plastic cap and clean with a toothpick.

PROTECT AGAINST FREEZING

Your dishwasher should be properly protected from freezing when left in an unheated place. Have a qualified technician perform the steps listed below in this section.

To Disconnect Service:

1 Turn off electrical power to the dishwasher at the supply source by moving fuses or tripping the circuit breaker.
2 Turn off the water supply.
3 Place a pan under the inlet valve. Disconnect water line from inlet valve and drain into pan.
4 Disconnect drain line from pump and drain water into pan.

To Restore Service:

1 Reconnect the water, drain and electrical power supply.
2 Turn on water and electrical power supply.
3 Fill both detergent cups and run dishwasher through a heated wash cycle.
4 Check connections to make sure they do not leak.
