Frequently Asked Questions - PMUX42 Pyle

What is the Pyle PMUX42 used for?
The Pyle PMUX42 is a 2-in 2-out USB audio interface designed for recording, songwriting, streaming, and podcasting.
How do I power the PMUX42?
The device can be powered via the USB Type-C port (DC 5V 1000mA) or via the USB Type-B port when connected to a computer. A mobile phone with OTG requires an auxiliary power supply.
What types of microphones can I use with channel 1?
Channel 1 accepts both dynamic and condenser microphones via an XLR connector. For condenser microphones, you must turn on the +48V phantom power switch.
Can I connect a guitar directly?
Yes, channel 2 has a 1/4-inch TS jack for instruments. For passive electric guitars or basses, press the Hi-Z switch to match the impedance.
What is the maximum audio quality?
The PMUX42 supports up to 24-bit / 192 kHz audio resolution for high-fidelity recordings.
How do I monitor audio?
Use the PHONES jack (1/4-inch) for headphones, and adjust volume with the PHONES LEVEL knob. The MONITOR OUTPUT SELECTOR switch lets you choose between Mix, Sub (USB only), or CH1-2 only monitoring.
What is the CH1 PAD switch for?
The PAD switch attenuates the input signal to prevent distortion when the input is too loud. Turn it on if the PEAK LED lights frequently even with the GAIN knob turned down.
How do I record to a computer?
Connect the device to your computer via the USB Type-B port. The interface will record the external CH1 and CH2 signals to your DAW (software). Internal USB-to-USB recording is not supported.
Can I use this with a smartphone?
Yes, but you must connect via the USB Type-C port and enable OTG function on your phone. Settings vary by brand. Use an auxiliary power supply to avoid battery drain.
