Frequently Asked Questions - Signature BS28310 BeefEater

How do I set the desired temperature on my BeefEater Signature BS28310 fridge?
Press the SET button once. The display will flash. Use the ▲ and ▼ buttons to adjust the temperature between -2°C and 8°C. Press SET again or wait 5-10 seconds to save. BeefEater recommends not setting below 4°C to prevent freezing and excess energy use.
How does the defrost cycle work on this outdoor fridge?
The fridge automatically defrosts every 8 hours for 20 minutes. The defrost indicator light illuminates during the cycle. You can also manually start a defrost by holding the DEFROST button for 10-20 seconds until a second beep sounds. To return to normal mode, hold the button again until both indicator lights flash.
What cleaning and maintenance does the fridge require?
Unplug the fridge and remove all items. Clean the interior with warm water and mild detergent. Never use corrosive cleaners or abrasive pads. Clean the condenser (behind the lower grill) every 3 months with a vacuum hose. In dusty environments, clean more often. Also clean the door gaskets with mild soapy water.
Can the BeefEater Signature BS28310 be installed indoors?
No, this model is designed for outdoor use only, in a sheltered area like an outdoor kitchen. It must not be exposed to rain or direct sunlight. The ambient temperature should not exceed 40°C for prolonged periods.
What type of refrigerant does this fridge use?
The fridge uses R600a (isobutane) refrigerant, which is flammable. The charge is 90g. Ensure the installation room is at least 1 m² per 8g of refrigerant (minimum 11.25 m²). Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. Servicing must be done by an authorized technician.
How do I replace the LED light in my BeefEater fridge?
Unplug the fridge and turn off the light switch. Remove the screws on both ends of the light cover, take off the cover, gently pull out the connector from the LED tube, insert the connector into the new tube, replace the cover and screws. Use only genuine BeefEater replacement parts.
What is the warranty coverage for this fridge?
In Australia and New Zealand, the fridge has a 24-month warranty on parts and labor. Additionally, the compressor, external condenser, evaporator, and drier have a further 3-year parts-only warranty. Proof of purchase is required. The warranty excludes misuse, improper installation, and cosmetic damage.
Why does the door feel warm to the touch?
The door is slightly heated to prevent fogging on the glass, ensuring clear visibility. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
What are the ventilation requirements for installation?
Do not block the ventilation grilles. The rear panel should not be placed directly against a wall. If built into an outdoor kitchen, ensure vents behind the fridge are clear and unobstructed to allow air circulation. Adequate space and clearances are needed.
The fridge display shows a temperature a few degrees above my set point. Is this normal?
Yes, during normal operation the compressor turns off when the set temperature is reached and restarts after the temperature rises a few degrees. The display will show a temperature a couple of degrees above the set point, which is perfectly fine.

① DOWN control
② UP control
③ SET control
④ DEFROST control
⑤ Indicator lights

During normal operation the controller display 8'8B will show the temperature inside the refrigerator.

    • Use ▲ ▼ buttons to set to the desired temperature.
  • Press SET again to complete the operation, or just leave it for 5–10 seconds, and the display will revert back to showing internal temperature, while new settings saved.

NOTE: The fridge is built to automatically defrost and prevent any ice forming on the Evaporator.

It will automatically run a 'Defrost cycle for 20min once every 8 hours.

When in a 'Defrost' cycle, the indicator light will illuminate under the 'Defrost' symbol

To manually activate 'Defrost' cycle

  • Press the button and hold it. a 'beep' will sound as soon as pressed.
  • Hold button pressed for 10 - 20 seconds, until a second 'beep' can be heard.

  • While in the 'defrost' mode, the fridge cooling power is reduced working. The automatic cycles ensure the defrosting is done in the most efficient manner, a when required. It is not recommended to leave the fridge in the manually set defrost mode for prolonged periods of time.

NOTE: The controller allows you to choose a desired operating temperature of between -2°C and 8°C. BeefEater do not recommend to operate the fridge on settings of below 4°C, as such setting will cause content of the fridge to freeze, and will result in unnecessary strain on the cooling systems, and undue high energy consumption.

It is advisable to keep the cover over the controller closed when not being accessed, so no unintended operation or damage will occur.

In normal operation the controller turns the compressor off at the set temperature and back on after the temperature had risen a few degrees. As such, the reading in the controller is always a couple of degrees above set-point and that is perfectly okay.

When the temperature was reached and the compressor is in its 'off' cycle, no indicator light will illuminate.
